I have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 with and AMD FX-8320 8-core, 4x4gb Avexir Core DDR3-1333 Ram, Sandisk 240Gb SSD, 6.5TB HDD, and a crappy MSI radeon R7 250 2gb gpu.

I also have an ASUS Z87-Plus motherboard which is an Intel board, that I could switch everything over to from the Gigabyte board except the CPU, but it's tough to find an intel cpu for LGA1150 socket at a price I can afford.
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z87PLUS/

Question is should i just get another gpu and stick with the gigabyte board, or switch to the asus board and get a cpu and descent gpu? I'm new to computer tech and all that i've learned so far is by reading, videos, and learning from others. I appreaciate any guidance. Thanks

That's a tough one. Sell everything. Put the money into a new platform. Or just buy a 1150 Pentium and use that for a htpc no GPU untill you upgrade.

Thread title...I can't resist:

On topic, if your aim is gaming, you'll benefit the most from upgrading your GPU.

If you're looking to upgrade your PC gaming experience, you'd be best served upgrading that GPU to a GTX 1060. If that one is too expensive, try this one. Prices of nice mid-range video cards are inflated across the board thanks to "coin mining", and the shortage isn't expected to abate anytime soon, so don't be afraid to pull the trigger on an upgrade.

i would sell the amd stuff, get a 2nd hand 4770k, delid it. then wait for more miners to start dumping their gpu for their prices to come back to more normal levels before replacing that.
