What keystrokes to boot into safe mode (and when do I type them)?

First correct answer gets a thanks! :)

To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers, if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

Someone please thank me, LOL

Are you saying that "F8" doesn't work for you?

Maybe... get into the BIOS, make sure that USB Keyboard Emulation is enabled. It may be named something different, but still very similar. Then try F8.

No, I wrote the post, then googled it, what a bone head I am sometimes.

Just tried it and it worked fine. I'm will be trying to boot from a drive that was in a different computer and hoping safe mode will avoid installed driver conflicts.
