Got a Antec 2.0 smart power 500 watt PS, about 1 mounth old, every since I got it it gives a skreetching noice. I just fixed all my wires up today, but Im told its bad, But ive seen worse. How long am I ok till I RMA?

um well the fans will die soon. as long as you have good airflow i would set every fan to intake and push all the air out the powersupply to keep it cool. rma as soon as possible.

Yea, It has its own little area, Im gonna RMA it around a mounth or so, I leave it on 24/7 though so.

i would rma sooner man...who knows when its just gonna blow and kill your whole comp

If the fan blows im sure it wont just die all of a sudden, it'll take prolonged use without a fan. It shouldn't get too hot, my fan pretty much always stays on low speed and my PSU stays cool.

You could even take it apart and put a better fan in, if you wanted(what I would do).

RMA is the best answer though, it's better when you get what you pay for.

Well I figured out its not the rear fan! I stopped it, and I still hear that lil whine... I think it could be the other fan, that no one really needs in life......? I will rma if you guys really think so monday of next week.

Update: So I put this psu in my amd system, I hear NO NOISE! I put it back in my p4 I do, I think its because my p4 has so much crap going on, and it runs so hot that this psu has to make a little noice i can barely here only if i put my ear up to the end. My PSU is fine thank the lord, I saved cash, time, and worries!

What you all think? I think its because my pc runs so hot, the psu is temped controlled, and uhm yea

It's probably not your PSU making the noise then. Maybe it's your P4 motherboard?

Thats what I think it is, is that bad? I dont htink it is

Yep, well its mostly my mobo, its not an issue at all since I did the test thank the lord. BTW, thanks chris for saying that :)
