Looks like it's time to buy Skyrim again.

I've been hoping this would happen for years now.

Though I do kinda wish LE was on GOG with it.

Holy crap, not only does this version not have the Creation Club service in it, but the $25 Anniversary Edition has all of the CC content included.

And now I'm suddenly $25 poorer. You win again, Bethesda.

looking to get the anniversary upgrade, and I came across the treachery of archmage newell skit, lmao

@emothxughts you might appreciate this one

Yeah have fun in getting alot of mods from Nexus mods going in the game it's a pita even when you do get the correct versions
it took me a dozen install/uninstalls just to get SKYUI to work and what it took was a mod to disable the stupid CC bs

oui and it's been on GOG for quite a while it's not a recent release

Looks like another one for my Dagoth Ur AI voice collection.

Also, my advice for those who wish to mod this Anniversary Edition, if it's a script or gameplay mod make sure the mod says it supports version 1.6+, mods made for version 1.5.97 and below may not work.

That makes me wonder, say in 2023 which is the best version from a NEXUS modding perspective?
I've had a decently modded original Skyrim 6+ years ago on my PC but due to a dumb accident I've uninstalled it along with my mods and I coulnd't be arsed to build it back and nowadays with all these updated versions I have no idea which one to use even if I wanted to. 'That version was pretty easy to mod, barely had conflicting mods or anything and yes SKYUI was a must have for me'
I did consider picking up one of the newer versions since with my current hardware I could use way heavier mods than last time but yea I just don't know which one to get.

Most Skyrim mod development these days are focused on the Anniversary Edition, the 1.6+ versions, and many popular mods are already ported to 1.6+ anyway. That said, this version requirement doesn't apply to mods that replace textures and models, just mods with scripts, because different .exe's between versions.

1.5.97(.0.8) is the last before Anniversary update/upgrade, works with SKSE v2.00.19 ( or v2.00.17...) but it needs mods to have archived older version when/if updated for 1.6.x.

Ah thats good to know since most of my mods were graphics related and some character design mods, I'm not much into changing the gameplay itself other than some quality of life change mods while keeping the core gameplay original-ish if possible.

I recently threw a bunch of mods onto the GOG version (1.6.659) on my laptop, and this is probably the first time in Skyrim modding history that it just worked without any game-breaking issues.

The only issue I had was with Verdant (fancy grass mod) destroying my framerate despite saying it wouldn't.

Also note if you go with 1.5.97, the developer of the unofficial patch is clinically insane and simply can't handle the idea of archival versions of his mods existing, and goes out of his way to eradicate them.

And for easy/quick modding, it's Wabbajack that uses lists :p

About me, no, i didn't play this game, because i lost so much time on Nexus to look at mods and Bethesda always breaking modding with their updates that i finally abandonned.

I quickly learnt that Bethesda's updates were just for the Creation club they barely ever fixed any real bug so I just stopped updating it and left it as is so it just worked and once again I was not surprised that when I did update to the Anniversary ed it was just for the Creation club shizz once again and not alot of anything else

When it goes on sale its still $20... really think they should have made it cheaper personally. I wonder how long I will have to wait for to be $8 or so.

It's still a great deal for folks wo haven't tired it yet (newer audiences mostly, ofc)
