Anybody ever used these adapter? I have a 4gigs 10600 ddr3 in my computer and I got from an old laptop a 4gigs 10600 ddr3 so-dimm that I could put in my rig to upgrade at 8 gigs for a mere 7$ canadian.

LinusTechTips looked at the DDR4 equivalent a while ago. It worked.
I'd say give it a shot and return it if it doesn't work.
