i was having problems with my computer just randomly restarting while i was playing games, i kept getting serious error messages after i restarted. so i reformated and tried running cpuz and pcwizard, two programs that did not run before i reformated. they stopped responding. i tried downloading the newest versions, nothing, i tried swapping out my ram and still nothing. i have just installed battlefield 1942 and the mod desert combat and i am going to see if it restarts after a while. if it doesnt i know its fixed, if it does...i really hope its not the video card or the motherboard. ps i have 2 sticks of ultra ram and 1 stick of kingston, i have the kingston out atm, thinking that may be the problem because i just bought it

Two possibilities

1) something is overheating, check your temps with a program such as speedfan

2) your PSU is failing

well wat about cpuz and pc wizard not being able to run? and i have tried to get temps for my processor but every program says something different. mother board monitor, pc wizard, even my soyo monitor is wrong, cuz it says its at 110F and the heat sink is ice cold...i have a Thermaltake P4 Spark 7+ Xaser Edition. it ran at 112F with the stock heat sink (at least thats wat the monitor said) oh yes and artic silver 5. i looked in the bios and it said 110F. so either the chip is broken or its right.. and i dont think its right. also my psu is 400wats, so i doupt its the psu

well i set my dram volt from 2.6-2.7 just incase it was the psu...and im going to test it out i just bought 2 vantec tornadoes, a new processor fan, and a ati silencer 2, i already had 3 case fans. so that plus the psu fans..i have 7 fans a cathode, 2 cd roms, 1 hd...mb, sound card..ect

your PSU can be 1000W but if it doesnt have decent amps on the different rails, especially the +12V one, its still going to crap out on you. What brand of PSU do you have and what are the amps on each rail?

Never run multiple hardware monitoring programmes at the same time as it will screw up sensor readings. Temperature readings from the BIOS are usually correct (although some mobos have been known to report their temps off by 5-10C) and i don't see any problems with your temp of 110F (I'm assuming this is idle. What is your load temp?) However, 'ice cold' heatsink is usually a sign that the heatsink is not working properly. Make sure its clipped on tight and the right way round.

its an allied with 17A on the 12V rail, and i unplugged some of my fans yesterday and i havnt had a crash since...so im thinking the psu isnt doing its job. im thinking about getting an antec true power 550w.
the heat sink is clipped on tightly and everything is perfect, it has a very very thin layer of artic silver 5..and the full load temp is 113F...idle is 110F the heat sink is pretty cold, and thats why i didnt think it was 110F neither did any of the guys at the lan party i went to friday. oh and i dont run more then 1 HW monitoring program at a time. pcwizard and cpuz still wont open...its really weird, cpuz sits there and never comes up, and pcwizard just stops responding

difference between idle and load is too low... temperature readings prob screwed... either that or the heatsink's is not working... Try using prime95 and put ur pc through the torture test.

yea im pretty sure the sensor is broke  cuz i know the heat sink is firmly against the processor and has no cracks

sorry to open old threads but i think i may have found something....i have been testing my system with burnintest 4.0 by passmark and my system only freezes up when i test my video and my sound at the same time..i looked in my system information and found these conflicts:

i dont have my sound card installed at the moment but i did and it had conflicts with my video card. i took it out to see if it was that causing the problems and i am running off onboard sound. oh and im also running a joystick off usb, and since my video card and usb has the same IRQ i thought that may be the problem, but im not for sure please help

I am also having issues with the same Chipset 865G. I have my suspicions it has to do with the AGP drivers and ATI's. I am replacing this MoBo(GA-8IG1000MK) with a VIA chipset Abit VT7 hopin it ends the BS I have gone thru with mine. my device list looks Identical and I have tryed everything to solve it so I have goodbye Intel 865 Hello VIA PT880(supposed to rate pretty close to 875P so we'll see)
Now also note I am not getting lockups or crashes just a lag like stutter in 3D apps(like somethins fighting for time in the PCI bus) I have also messed with my PCI Latencies to no avail either

well they arent so much conflicts as shared IRQs

well im going to my friends house this week and im going to try his gf 6600 ultra. see if its my card, if its not ill try switching the usb irq's

i realy lose it :(

I am bussy now for a very long time with this problem..
i realy wonder who to blame microsoft or ati..
I mean look at it advise i can give u is i realy took all out of my machine hardisks ethernet so i have all my pci slots free i only have 2 hds connected now and a burner + my agp card
i tried to set standard pc in my device manager all 0,0 results even the mps no results..
and look now there aint even anything installed these are my system informatian results
with conflicts all over the place .. if i install my catalyst driver now or omega
all will go to irq 16 aint it something can anyone help me please im lost...

it says its at 110F and the heat sink is ice cold...
If your working the CPU (GAMES,prime95, etc) and the heat sink is cold then it's not working.

true that cold heat sinks @ 110 r bad mine (idle) is bout 105-107 and my hs is warm.
