I have a CPU that I'd like to use in my compal HEL8X laptop the Socket is (Socket 479 mPGA).
I don't wanna take apart my laptop to see if this CPU will fit, so how can I find out what Socket this CPU is? even looking on www.cpu-world.com all I get is (478-pin micro-FCPGA)..
it's a 2.20 /1M/800 AW80585900 here is a picture

so this CPU that is in that pic will fit in this laptop that is a 479, is that what you're saying?
& thanks bogmali for your reply I know of that website.
thank you guys for taking the time to respond to my question.

Here is a link to your lappy's specs:

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3060

and to your SLGLQ:

http://ark.intel.com/products/41498/Intel-Celeron-Processor-900-1M-Cache-2_20-GHz-800-MHz-FSB

Question I have is what do you have in there right now? It is still the stock T2500?

Difference between the 2 is that the Celeron is 64bit capable but only single core, the T2500 is a dual-core but only 32bit.
Oh the CPU I have int his laptop is a Socket 479 mPGA here is the CPUz dump for the one I have in my LAPTOP http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2717507
So If I put this 64 bit CPU in this laptop it would be a downgrade?

Yes the Celeron would be a downgrade since it is a single core CPU and you're also going to lose 50% of your L2 cache, but you gain a 64bit capable CPU. A Core 2 Duo (Merom) T7XXX is more of an upgrade in your case.

that's crazy the CPU that I wanna put in is newer than the one I have in my laptop lol. ok well thank you for your quick reply.. much appreciated:toast:
