Softmod 6.5 Messed up my refresh rate

I just installed 6.5 adfter waiting ages for it to come out, it came up with a few errors during instalation. One with the .sys file that unlocks the extra pipes and one with an ati file with an extra a in the name is all I remember.

It no longer detects my monitor's properties in the CCC anymore, including the refresh rate.

In windows I can set it to 85Hz or whatever (it no longer detects what resolution my monitor cannot display) but it does not actually set it to this. Just a constant 63Hz, which makes my eyes hurt.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Which ati file in the system32 folder deals with refresh rate, as changing this out might solve my problem, no?

Thanks for any replies.

Very stange, I'd recommend using Driver Cleaner Pro (it's free) to remove all traces of ATI software and then try the softmod again.

Comforting to hear I'm not the only one, it's really irritated my eyes, not used to such a low refresh rate. I'd hate to be an officer worker with a dodgy monitor, would kill me.

Thanks for the link Jimmy 2004, I think I'll use that in future.

Blazer 2006 I found that, after I unistalled them the first time, I reverted back to the softmod 6.4 but that didn't solve it, I re-installed the 6.5. That didn't solve it. But then I deleted the 6.5 and restarted but the resolution was fine, and my refresh rate was up. As if the driver was still on there, ATI Tool reported it was still 6.5. But I'd deleted it, Quake 3 wouldn't play because there was a missing OpenGL driver.

I re-installed just the driver of 6.5, and it's working flawlessly. Will brave installing the Control Center soon. And will wait for the next release to softmod. I can live without the extra fps.

Hope this helps mate, thanks for your replies. Both of you. Good luck.

I also have problem but with setup. During instalation it show me error that can't copy any file from

\softmod.6-5_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_32464\Driver\2KXP_INF\B_32846

to

c:\windows\system32\drivers.

I have r9550 and 32-bit win. What I have do ?
