Softmodding under Windows Vista

Hey. Is it possible to softmod under windows vista? The beta driver for it uses a 5.10 driver so I tried replacing ati2mtag.sys with your modded one but to no avail. Help would be appreciated. =-)
 
First off, you are dealing with Windows Vista BETA and the driver support is terrible on a good day. Now to actually mod things that noone has played with before, well good luck there. I would not expect to see decent driver support for some time.

In a few days/weeks I will receive my copy of Windows Vista since I'm a MSDN subscriber..
But I own a Radeon 9500 and I would like to softmod it to a 9700 under Vista..
I searched the Internet but couldn't find a decent article about this subject..

Probably wont work... however, if you verified the mod under windows XP, isnt there a hard mod instead?

Use that. ;)

Softmodding is a brand new ball game in windows vista, as they rewrote a large portion of how drivers are handled.
 
Hmmm I was afraid of that..
Hardmodding my gfx.. I don't like the sound of that..
what if I f*ck up? :P

Let's see if I can find a tutorial about it...
 
Hmmm as I can see in this topic I only need to make a connection between 2 & 3 and I can leave the resistor on position 1-2 in place?

I might gonna try that :cool:

But... I will need to flash the BIOS to that of a 9700 Non-Pro (My card won't run @ pro speeds.. it will give me artifacts)
Where can I find a Sapphire 9700NP BIOS? nvm.. got it :rolleyes:

Well... I hardmodded the 9500NP to a 9700NP and it works great :)
Very easy to do :P

isnt that a softmod modification on those cards.. 9500NP to 9700NP with the omega drivers.
or is there an actual hardmod?
