I need a new laptop for about $5-600, and after much searching around, i've found my way to these 2 laptops. these are my only choices (i live in europe). but, the problem i have is that i cannot decide between these 2 laptops..

it is going to be a student laptop with some easy picture editing/photoshop use and internet browsing. it must be lightweight (since i wander back and forth between several facilities and work places) and have nice battery life.

i cannot find any reviews on the HP Pavilion, but by its specs, it looks somewhat nice and acceptable.

it is unfortunate that the Swift does NOT have an ethernet-port on it, so i must rely on wifi all the time..

any inputs on which one of these i should go for??

Links would have been nice. I cannot find any information at all on that HP as HP's website is worthless when trying to research European models from the US. And you did not tell us the specs so I cannot comment. Please verify the HP model number and include a link to it.

Acer Swift 3

USB to Ethernet adapters are cheap.

Pardon for the lack of information, but i will try to answer you as good as i can. as it turns out, i found another laptop that costs $125 LESS than the 2 I mentioned and in comparison, im questioning whether the Swift 3 and HP is worth those $125 or not;

Im really struggling to figure out which one i should go for. The ES1 (the one that costs $125 less than the other 2) also got the opportunity to upgrade its RAM because of the 1 free RAM slot.. plus, it should be faster due its i3 7.gen cpu. But im not sure how good that is compared to the other 2....

any thoughts?

The HP only has 128GB of disk space. I think that is too limiting. But, it has 6GB of RAM while the others have 4GB.

If you could up the RAM on the first Acer, I would consider that.

Ok, so all of a sudden, a very nice offer landed on my lap; $600 ($75 more than Swift and HP) for an ASUS Vivobook S405UA-BM188T with these specs:
Intel® Core™ i5-7200U CPU 2.5 GHz
256 GB M.2 SSD
8 GB DDR4 RAM 2133Mhz (16GB max), 1 slot free
Intel® HD graphics 620
14" Full HD (1920 x 1080)
1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 3.1 Type C, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x Combo Jack, 1 x HDMI
WiFi 802.11ac & Bluetooth 4.2 (Dual band) 2*2
Windows 10 (64bit)
1.42kg

I believe i will be very happy with the buy.

Thread solved.

8GB of DDR4 and 256GB M.2 SSD are major pluses, IMO. So is 11ac wireless.

For me, 14" monitors are just too small. But that's more a personal thing.

I feel you on that, but since it will be only for school use and minor youtube-watching, it will do with 14", but yeah, the extra memory and storage will be huge boosts for me, and all that for a mere $75 extra or so. I cannot complain on that.

Nice one!

You could add "[Solved]" to the thread title.

Done, thanks.
