tl;dr solution is https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/3001

Their upscaling technology, yet still working, is destroying the gaming experience with excessive ghosting of moving objects, especially vehicles as of version 1.63 of the game.

XeSS is effectively inefficient on non-Intel GPUs (my case and the case of majority gamers).
DLSS is unavailable on non-RTX GPUs (my case and the case of majority gamers, yet not that major majority).

I'm playing at 1080p using my RX 6700 XT which delivers smooth performance on Ultra settings without any FSR, XeSS and whatnot, that's why I'm opting for improving my graphics by setting the virtual resolution (3200x1800) and using FSR to save me from going low 40s and 30s in framerates. And yes, fake 3200x1800+FSR:Quality provides with better detalisation even despite my display is 1080p, alas ghosting kills me.

FSR is broken and ruins the gameplay. No FSR and no virtual super resolution is currently the only sane option.

CDPR ignored everything I've sent them since the early autumn so I don't consider writing them an option.

Is there a way I get FSR fixed without going for downloading older versions of the game?

And yes, I'm not gonna feed nGreedia just because FSR is broken in the only game where I need it.

Screenshot of my RX 6700 XT being destroyed by fake 8K just for lulz.

RSR is generally worse than FSR, but it does show that it's probably not a game issue? Can you enable sharpening and then FSR?

Usually FSR gets better if you crank Radeon Image Sharpening

(screen space reflection quality) is the major reason for the ghosting. can you try turning that off?

It doesn't. This issue doesn't happen on 1.61 and happens on 1.63 regardless of hardware and OS used.

Yes but not in this regard.

No impact whatsoever. Only made reflections even dumber.

Are you running on FSR quality or balanced? Quality for FSR and DLSS is the only way to go. Otherwise it looks like ass.

Whatever setting I choose it has severe ghosting issues and they don't become better if I choose the less aggressive mode. Not the point.

This mod genuinely helped with my problem. The image quality, though, went a little bit down. But not down enough to consider my effort pointless.

Nah, I was being serious. I turn it off for all my games cuz honestly motion blur eats up frame rate and looks bad with FSR.

You are talking about ghosting image
do you know what gives a ghosting image effect motion blur...
FSR has a pretty bad ghosting issue in Cyberpunk for a while now, regardless of your other settings.
Motion blur is also something I instantly turn off in every game but this is a different kind of ghosting.

And that would be?
I posted the link to a mod from nexusmods. This mod features an implementation of FSR which is devoided of such a problem.
Nah, I was being serious. I turn it off for all my games
I also don't like blur. Didn't think it's not obvious I run blurless settings-wise.
this is a different kind of ghosting
THIS. And this kind of ghosting annoys 9000x more than motion blur.

usually it is motion blur or temporal AA settings causing issues with ghosting with FSR/DLSS

I Was gunna suggest some of the nexus mods, one of the best mods i've used was designed for CP2077 and converted FSR2 to DLSS and can be used in any title - with any DLSS version you like
And because it's got more controls than some games gives you, it's often better looking
(DLSS on a GTX 1080 is crash happy if you change some settings, but damn it's good for 4K gaming on older hardware)

I had not a single crash with FSR + 1080 Ti when I had one, yet never tested with this mod. Yes, I played at 4K as well.

For me, playing CP2077 at 4K requires at least RTX 2080/3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT for this idea to be reasonable. You either cut A LOT of graphics settings or get much stuttering just because your GPU ain't powerful enough (was the case with 1080 Ti; don't wanna imagine how bad it is on a plain 1080).

With this mod, I decided on playing 1440p + fake DLSS: Quality and the rest settings on High/Ultra. RT is obviously off because AMD cannot into RT. Yes, it runs, yet 30 FPS is a crime against humanity.

P.S. Next time I upgrade my GPU I wanna make sure my old one sucks balls compared to a new one and not just a bit slower. 6700 XT feels like a slight improvement.

DLSS-FSR mod can crash depending on the in-game settings, like changing DLSS quality settings.

CP2077 is a tech demo - it's only relevant because of how hard it is to run, i found it unplayable due to the massive input lag due to their shitty choices with rendering. It's always forced to 2 frames ahead, so your latency is 2x-3x what you'd expect at your given FPS value - fine on a controller for a console, but garbage if you're used to highly responsive PC games even before you're stuck at 60FPS that feels like 30.

! Warning !
This is a proof of concept to see if such a mod is even feasible. Expect bugs!

Known issues:
  • The DLAA Toggle doesn't work. Use the presets in the ini file.
  • Changing certain graphics settings break this mod. The game should work again after you restart it.
  • You might experience some ghosting when using animated in-game screens or if you are driving a vehicle. I am aware of this, and I am trying my best to fix this. Stay tuned.
  • It seems like motion blur doesn't work on non-16:9 resolutions
  • Also, motion blur can cause a "vignette" effect when moving very fast - Just disable motion blur.

What's the point of this post?

The source of my issue came from CDPR's hands, not the modder's ones.
Just repeating the warning? I've already read the description of the mod before downloading.

Like, what do you even mean by this?
massive input lag
I'm probably slow to the point I can't really distinguish this input lag from a normal one. But what I can distinguish is the picture fidelity and framerates. And as of now, they are super fine.

I've finished the entire game with 50-60 fps on average cause I rather had the settings cranked up with RT on top and to me it was a fine experience, had no issues with the input lag or I'm just not sensitive to it:oops:. 'I'm not a high refresh/competitive gamer so maybe thats why'

with RT on top
I'd love to do the same but if I go for RT I also do need to lower everything else to the bare minimum for it to remain playable. AMD is AMD, y'know. Could be way better, be it a 6800 XT, alas not the case.

Well to be honest the game looks pretty good either way so it was more like a personal preference/curiosity and yea I had to use DLSS Quality else it was a no go ofc. 'to me DLSS Quality looks good so it was okay'
I'm gonna pick up Phantom Liberty on the launch day most likely, I've only played and finished the base game earlier this year so the 'hype' avoided me but personally I had a lot of fun with the game in overall/only ran into minor bugs.:)

Are you able to downgrade FSR by replacing the libraries in the game folder? I think DLSS in some games can be changed that way, so maybe FSR can also?

I wish I knew how to do it. Too far from being a software guru.

I mean, I was perusing and found only one file which could be (or could not be) the one I'd want to swap but I checked the same file from the v.1.61 and they are exactly the same (have the same checksum) so changing won't change anything.
