Soundblaster X4 - Super X-Fi not working properly, or?

Trying to get Super X-Fi to work properly on my X4.

Have done the head mapping and transferred the profile to the device.

When I enable X-Fi on the X4, the sound is terrible: There is an echo on the sound and there is almost no separation in the direction of the sound (when doing the test in the Creative app).

I am using the X4 on a Windows PC with a pair of old Sennheiser headphones (HD595).

Based on the reviews I have read the sound should be amazing, but it is definately not on my system. Tried once to play Warzone with the Super X-Fi Battle mode and it was really confusing due to the echo and the fact that I could not hear where the sounds were coming from.

Any advice on what I am doing wrong?

For some time, I owned the previous version, the X3, which also featured the S-xFI technology. In my experience, that technology is not good either. I guess the issue comes from the way in which the measurements for creating your personal profile are made. Did you take the photos of your ears yourself? Maybe if someone else takes the photos for you the result gets better, I do not know really. I was so disappointed with the X3, that I sold it quite soon after my experience.

all of that stuff is just marketing bs. (from every company)
use direct sound and enjoy the superb audio.

Yes, had my wife to take the pictures. ;)

I know, but when respectable review sites post reviews that says that it is really good, I hope that there is something about it.

Oh, and my AV receiver is packed away as I am short of space, so no Direct Mode for me. :)
