What do you guys think?...Stay with the Zone Alarm security suite or switch to this> http://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/gamesafe.html Not that the Zone Alarm isn't ok I'm just tired of the 49.00 bucks every year for some thing that still lets virus and such in every now and again.

ZoneAlarm is not that great, i tried it out for a month (i didn't pay for it) and its not the best security suite out there and it hogs resourses like crazy. After i switched to Kaspersky Internet Security 7 and i couldn't be happier. Much lighter on resourses, has the famous Kaspersky AV integrated into it and all in all a very good suite that catches al;most everything. You gotta play around with it to achieve the settings you like but once you do that you'll be a happy camper.

It's on sale right now at Amazon for 39.99, the only thing is that it is being sold as a 3 seat license, you cant buy a one seat KIS 7. It's fine for me since i have 3 PCs in the house but i don't know about you. Anyway, hers the link:

i used zonealarm for a few years before, and yes its a massive resource hog. when i built my new comp i decided against installing it and tbh ive just realised its absolutely useless as ive never encountered probs without it

If ya tired of paying and still willing to pay for a good firewall try out Outpost firewall and Tiny firewall.

I've used Outpost firewall for some years now and love it to bits as it does so much. Version i like the most is version 4 as it gives more options and only use there newer one when i been into vista. In the end you can make it as complicated as you want once you get used to it.

Here's a link.

All though takes some time to get uses to it and it does and can really block a load that others do not.

I think that he's talking about the ZoneAlarm AV features. ;)

From my experience, switch to Avast (link in my signature).

I agree. I have that on my laptop since I run Windows XP on it. I don't trust Windows XP at all. Need to lock it down as much as I can. :p

Yeah same here thats why i use Outpost due to it's ability to block ports and allow others to each program. For example you can block port 80 on a program but allow it on others. Stops a hell load of unwanted connections.

Then there's the web block options like blocking cookie's \ ActiveX Java Referrers \ Flash \Hidden Frames \ Aninated Gifs \ JavaScript \ Scripting ActiveX \ Popup Windows Spyware \ Ads by size words.

And still i have not started with 1/2 it's options. Like Anti Leak Control \ Component Control \ Critical System Objects Control. And there's still more.

What else is good as you can set it up easy and as you get used to it can make it as complex as you like. Only other firewall i'd trust the same or more would be Tiny Firewall but real in depth and complex really from the start and i did not like it's lay out or the cost compeared to Outpost.
