Steam Client Webhelper using a lot of the GPU

Hi there,

I bought a game on Steam last night, and i was i closing out the purchase i noticed on MSI Afterburner that the GPU clock was ramped up to load levels as though i were gaming.

I checked in the task manager, and Steam Client Webhelper was using around 40% of the GPU. It would then go down to nothing, only to pop back up again about 15-20 seconds later.

Restarted the machine and it stopped, ran a virus scan and got nothing back.

Any ideas?

Probably just stuck or something.
You can try to disable the gpu rendering on Steam > Settings > Interface then uncheck "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views" and restart the app.

Try disabling GPU acceleration in steam settings

Another solution is to not
Autostart on windows boot and then just totally exit it after done gaming.

Why does a game loader need hw acceleration anyway when todays cpus do not struggle to do such mundane tasks like that?
