Ok, strange memory issue with a relative's pc. It is a Dell Inspiron with an i3-6100. It came with 4gb in single channel so we were putting in another stick of 4gb. Found another stick of the same brand and actually the same timings, put it in and it wasn't recognized. Reversed the sticks and it wouldn't boot. Put those sticks in his older i5 system and it booted right up. Put the sticks from his older system in and it wouldn't boot. Put is original stick in the first slot and one from his old system in the second slot and it would boot but the stick second stick wouldn't be recognized. Switched slots, and it wouldn't boot? I don't even...
I checked the bios for anything that seemed off but I really didn't see anything. The bios never shows more than 4096mb. I am suspecting a bad second slot but that doesn't explain why a different ram stick in the first slot wouldn't boot.
Yes, I cleared the cmos.
