should i get a striker II extreme but knowing the stability is very bad or just wait for the maximus? sli or crossfire doesn't really matter to me

If sli or crossfire doesn't matter, why get either? Just get a high end p35 or p45.

I guess it depends on what video cards you want to run in it.
Maximus = ATi
Striker = Nvidia

I would go with the Max board. I own both the Striker II board, and the Maximus Formula board, and I really got thired of the Nvidia Chipset. I got so tired that when the board went out on me because of my 8800gt. I went out and bought the Maximus board. I'll still keep the other board because of the fact I want a Sli board, but Striker II boards can be a pain. Just like you say the Extreme sees for ya

Wait for the maximus...coming from someone who has experience with both

The new maximus? It doesn't use two x16 pci-e lanes though. The new Rampage Formula on the other hand is very nice. If any of you remember the Asus Pinot Noir prototype, that is now the new Rampage Formula.

pinot noir has been renamed.....

which one will be a better board running crossfire the rampage extreme or the maximus 2 formula?

rampage extreme is x48 with ddr3 and will be pretty easy to OC.

the MAX 2 FORM will be a whole new game in OCing. you'll have to understand how all the different bios settings correlate with eachother to get anywhere when OCing. P45 chipset.

in your opinion which will oc the e8500 to at least 4.2-4.4 i hope there isn't any stability issues when these are released

any board should be able to get the e8500 to 4.5ghz without any problems. the P45's will be a bitch to OC though.

Maximus formula II is not to far away they had driver options for it on there site.. Other from saying i'm Happy with my Maximus formula.

Yeah, if you do your homework on it all, you really don't have to go extreme on buying a board.. The Max board has been shown to do great with processors.. If you look at the Maximus Formula Bios Thread you'll be able to see how good that board really is. I know TRT has been able to hit high with the board.. Just check it out and see what you think.

so as for what i'm reading i guess the rampage extreme is the better option of the 2?

rampage extreme is better. but it's ddr3... but the price has come down. i have some SICK ass ddr3 that can run from 1000mhz @ 5-5-5-15 all the way to 2000mhz(so far) @ 9-9-9-27-1t and it blows ddr2 out of the water.

i cant tell you much about this kit until the review is done but it's one HELL of an overclocker.

this is a 2x1gig kit of 1600mhz ddr3..

i know that the formula runs crossfire as 16 and 8 if i'm correct does the rampage run at 16 16?

i think i might get the formula 2 since ddr2 and much cheaper then ddr3 unless there is a big difference between the boards

ddr3 is not that much at all. most good kits are under $200 now. ddr2 used to be that much.

the rampage will be much better then the maximus
