I have 2 questions about this kit. First, they tell you u that the tubing is 3/8" ID but they dont tell u what the OD is, does anyone know this? Second, i'd like to have the tubing in this kit replaced with either a Tygon or a Feser UV, i'm wondering if this kit will work with non-Swiftech tubing? I know this question is a little stupid but i dont want to buy the stuff and then find out it wont work.

It should work fine with feser thin wall uv tubing, which has the same id/od i believe.

Really the OD doesn matter. It just needs to go over the barb.

ALso, any tubing will work that is 3/8 id. You can go to lowes or homedepot and get like 10 feet for $4.00. Any of the name brand tubing is a ripoff IMO.

I would assume that any 3/8" ID tubing would work. The neoprene tubing that comes with the kit isn't anything special. The pump/block combo and radiator are also available as stand alone products too, that will work with with generic 3/8" ID tubing.

I needed to know the OD size cause i need to know what size clamps (and other stuff) to get so i'd like to get a definate answer, i know some folks here have this kit so its a question for them. At least now i know that i can use the tubing of my choice.

I know they have pumps and reservoirs sold separetely but im attracted to this because i'm new to water and want an easy kit with as few components as possible. My second choice is the Corsair Nautlus 500 but i think that the Swiftech is better.

to answer your question it seems like you want to do what ive done ive got the swiftech combo block/pump i just brought a couple of meters of transpartent 3/8's tube modded the pump to and got a big beasty twin rad to go with it and id buy jubelee clips and a res/fill port and used feser

thanks so i gather from your answer that the OD is also 3/8", correct?

It's probably 1/2" - the smaller of most 3/8" tubing, it's easy to work with, but will kink easier than 9/16" and 5/8" OD (really stiff, thick walled).

If you get snap-grip plastic clamps, they usually have a range that they will fit. Here's a selection (unfortunately they are all in decimal inches):

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any that would fit both 1/2 and 9/16...

thanks for your help. my guess was 1/2" also. I'll be getting some swiftech coolsleeves or koolance anti kink coils for the tubing that should help a lot.

i have this kit, i cant rember the OD of the tubing but it dose not matter anyway its the ID that matters (1/2" clamps will be fine tho), do you have the WC kit already or are you about to order it, i only ask because if you are going to order it i would recomend getting a different kit, my kits pump was noisey (low deep humming noise) and wish i had listened to the comments i had read in other forums and reviews about this... i did some testing on my block and found ou that it wasnt the block that was making the noise it was the block vibrating the mobo and case and nothing i did woudl stop the noise so i went back to air cooling untill i went a custom water loop

no i didnt get it yet.I'm still researching and deciding. I'm choosing between the H20 Compact and Corsair Naulilus 500 but im leaning towards Swiftech. Reviews i've read for this kit on Newegg are quite favorable though, its actually a top seller there, but i appreciate the warning.

The OD is 1/2"

I have the same pump that comes with that Swiftech kit. It while there are "better" pumps out there, this one is no slouch. You can read a thorough review of it here.

did you experience the noise issue as rampage did?

The pump i am using is a converted apogee drive, with an xspc res top on it.When i first got it,it was fitted as is on my board and was very noisy.

damn that sucks, what did you do to quiet it down?

I bought the xspc top to quiet it.I think maybe the noise is because its fitted directly to the board,it amplifies the noise the pump makes.

The apogee drive is a great thing though, its a perfect start to watercooling, and its upgradeable.

I had this kit as well, but returned it. Like the others have said, its a great little kit and the pump is hella powerful but as soon as you strap in onto the cpu i really does vibrate. I had the kit running on the bench first and the pump was VERY quiet when just sitting there, There is no vibration absorbtion when strapped straight onto the cpu. And you can't really shock mount the motherboard either, not without heaps of trouble anyways. I would suggest getting a stand alone pump which you can then mount with some sort of vibration dampening.

I could seriously hear mine in another room!!!

I loved the kit though, it was hard to send back.

Apparently you can run the pump on a lower voltage and it is quieter but of course pumps less too.

It kept my new phenom around the 28c mark. This new monster cooler I have keeps it around the 38c mark.

WC FTW!!! :rockout:

I put a xspc res top on my apogee drive, the pump is really quiet now.unfortunatley the apogee drive is noisy when fixed to the board though.

thank you for being very helpful, that goes for everyone. can you link to the XSPC top u used so i can grab it if needed?

oh, i see, u used this reservoir not the one that came with H20 220. I was attracted to the kit cause it combines the reservoir and rad. I'll have to think about this a little and plan my setup.

hmm, interesting, if its an actual pump then i can put on top of a block and get my own block like u sed.

Absolutely. As shown in this review:

http://www.martinsliquidlab.com/Swiftech_Apogee_Drive_Review.html

I have the same pump. It's a combination of the MCP330 pump and an apogee GT block. If you read the review above you see everything we've been talking about plus a whole lot more.

Also, I did not have any of the noise and vibration problems others had. Lucky me. ;)
