Hi i have been using a Netgear DG834 v3 non wireless and have been getting a sync speed of 2994kbps on a long line the tests say i should get 3mbs or over, anyway i decided to go wireless and recieved a Thomson TG585 v7 from my ISP as soon as i pluged it in and gave it a few days to settle i noticed the sync speed has dropped to arround 2040kbps I complained to my ISP and they sent me a replacement router same model and it is the same.
I thought i would try another router a Netgear DGN2000 but it was the same the sync speed dropped so i returned it i am awaiting a refund, I was told it was because the non wireless dg834 v3 uses a broadcom chip and that i should go for a Netgear DG834GT as it uses a broadcom chip, but i have noticed on a website that tells what chip is in the routers that the DG834 v3 uses a Texas Inst chip and all the other ones i have tried ie Thamson, Netgear dgn2000 and the one i was told to go for the Netgear GT all have broadcom chips can anyone help or suggest a router that would be any good for me as i cannot keep buying and returning routers or is there anyway i can convert my non wireless to a wireless.
regards
