System Interrupt Process Using 25-50% of CPU

So I was having poor framerates when playing L4D2 today so when I was done I decided to try to figure out why. Apparently "System Interrupt Process" is constant using a high percentage of my CPU even when nothing is going on. I can't really find any good resolutions from google does anyone have any suggestions?

Windows 7 x64.

Try this:
1. open task manager and highlight the process in question
2. right click on said process- click on "go to services"
This may direct you to the evil doer.

Or try Process explorer from Sysinternals. It may help you snoop out the offending device or driver/dll.

Well - Relation is hard to judge but I started getting "System interrupt process" spikes shortly before I had a head failure on one of my HDD's (a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB)

Began getting sudden bursts of load intermittently about a week before one-day suddenly no HDD.

Checked the device manager. Apparently there were duplicate entries for my PATA controller. I uninstalled them and the process went away. Most likely they were causing an IRQ conflict which caused the interrupt process to flip out. I don't know where the duplicate entries came from.
