Hi, I just built my first pc by myself and everything was going okay, although having some difficulties getting everything tidy I was able to after a few hours, I was hyped to get on my new pc, booted it up lights were on and everything, and then it simply wouldn’t boot up, my screen had no signal and I couldn’t do anything. I searched up how to fix this issue and thought a BIOS flash would do the job but after trying it 5 times it simply didn’t work. I then went and got a pair of Ram sticks from my old build to see if the issue was in the Ram, turns out it wasn’t. I thought it could’ve been the CPU cooler being too tight so I removed it, same result. I also thought maybe my M.2 was the problem so I didn’t install it when rebuilding it, same result. I have tried most things except swap out the CPU or swapping out the Motherboard.
If anyone has any tips or solutions that can help me fix this issue I would extremely appreciate it.

my specs:

Ryzen 5 5600X
Asus Rog b550-a
Corsair Vengeance Pro CL 8x2 3600mhz
Radeon 6600XT
Samsung 1TB m.2
Corsair rm650x

Are you sure you have connected everything? double check if you have connected all the necessary cables. Like CPU power cables. Check if RAM sits in the sockets correctly. If your graphics card is connected with the power cables correctly. I assume the CPU is sitting well in the socket as well. Check your ram compatibility with the board. If you have a modular PSU check if cables are firmly attached to the PSU.
I understand you can't enter BIOS? If you dont have a post then something is not connected correctly. I'd go with this first. Try one ram module installed. Remove all unnecessary devices like SSD's, hard disks etc.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried mostly everything you stated, I checked every cable was connected correctly, I even removed the CPU and put it back in, I made sure the PSU was connected correctly by removing it out of the case and seeing from there. I also tried running with just one Ram module installed. I will give it another try today and see how things go, thanks again for your reply.

Seriously, you bought a Q-LED board and then when on to guess where the problem is? :slap:

Yes because it doesn’t seem to be as straight forward as it seems, the Qled for Dram turns on and I tried changing the channels, changing the the ram itself and still the same issue. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I still mourn the quasi-disappearance of proper debug leds (though they can suck, too, thanks AsRock), but in your case, you were told the problem is the RAM. If other sticks didn't do any better, you're looking at a problem with the RAM sockets, possibly bent pins, messed up traces or something, or a plain faulty memory controller.
Try a different CPU (maybe get a cheapo Athlon GE if you can't borrow one) and if the problem persists, return the mobo.

Fwiw, my experience with Zen was the same :(

Edit: Welcome to TPU!

Reset the BIOS to defaults (clear CMOS jumper) so that it goes back to JEDEC standard speeds. DOCP or memory training has possibly picked some borderline unstable timings that won't cold-boot. If it's not that then it sure does sound like infant mortality on the CPU and you need to try a second CPU to confirm.

Reseating the CPU and RAM may force you back into the BIOS but I'm not 100% sure on Asus boards if that's the same thing as a BIOS reset.

Okay so I got home and got my older pc which was my first actual build and which worked fine, i then tested the ram that I’m trying to use on my new build on the older build and it works fine, it boots up normally. On the new build I used my old Ram and the issue continues, the Qled comes up and it won’t boot. Now I’m sure the problem isn’t with the Ram it self. Btw thanks so far for peoples suggestions.

Yup, that confirms it's not the RAM. Unfortunately, this means it's either the CPU (memory controller) or the mobo :(
One more thig to try: insert RAM in one slot a time. If you can't find at least one slot that works that way, I'd say it's most likely the CPU. Of course, the surefire test for that is trying another CPU, but you probably don't have a spare.

Yes when I tried slotting just one Ram in, both the CPU and Dram Qleds started flashing. I’m going to remove my other CPU and try see if it’s the CPUs problem. Thanks for your advice

I bought a board from Newegg that lit up and powered the fans but did nothing else. The green light blinked when I flashed the bios and nada. I spent 12 hours messing with a brick. At least I was able to get my money back.

Sounds familiar: fans would spin, debug leds would show nothing or an undocumented code, depending on the CPU used. AsRock said they'd replace the board and sent me back the same one. Needless to say they're off my "buy" list now and I'm back to Intel.

Okay so I tested it with my old CPU and nothing, the same light comes on and then also the CPU qled starts flashing. I also tested using the 5600X on my old B450 and the cpu Qled on that board came on, however I’m not sure if it’s because it’s not compatible with series 5000 chips so im just leaning towards the motherboard itself being the problem, and maybe the CPU too.

Flash your B450 with the latest Bios to rule the CPU out.

What model is the old CPU? B550 should support AM4 chips back as far as 2017 at least, if it's an old A-series then the failure of the old CPU in the new board could just be unsupported BIOS.

B450 support for newer 5000-series CPUs is also patchy, so that's not 100% conclusive either :\

My old CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600

Not sure it's applicable, but I have something you could try, my B550-E failed memory training (it has these debug LEDs + a Q-Code reader which would get stuck on the code for memory not detected and the same orange DIMM light stuck) when starting from a cold boot every time until the latest BIOS released (2603 with AGESA 1.2.0.6 patch B).

If you are running into something similar (possibly because of ram timings set incorrectly), try turning your PC off (power switch in the back), press the power button to drain the capacitors, then turn it back on, press the power on button, and after like 5 secs, press the reset button or, if you don't have a reset button, flick the power switch in the PSU off and then immediately back on, if you have the memory training issue, your PC should POST.

The latest beta BIOS on ASUS' site greatly improves memory compatibility with this platform. I am running 4x dual-rank 16 GB Dominator Platinum with B-die ICs sticks set at 3600 with a 5950X processor, for reference. Might be worth a shot since the -A, -F and -E are built on the same platform, mine just being feature-complete and yours being a white-colored spin on the -F model.

So you old system is no longer working with the components that it had before? Did you bend CPU pins on two CPUs the new and the old. This is your first build….

No because my old CPU works perfectly with my older motherboard, I tried using it on this new build and the cpu Qled continued to to turn on when I tired booting.

Go to a shop and have it tested

It beats buying parts

Hi Guys, thanks for everyone’s replies and attempt to help me with my issue, unfortunately I wasn’t able to find out which part was the real problem so I’m going to try get my motherboard and CPU replaced.

It's probably the mobo. Fingers crossed.

Why bother? They're under warranty, most likely. Let the seller/manufacturer deal with testing.
