Technic Launcher/javaw Not Working on Nvidia Geforce GT 555m

I have done everything I should have needed to do to get this to work. I went into Nvidia control panel and forced it to run ALL programs on high performance. For the most part, this worked. However, javaw (64 bit, I know which is being used) refuses to run on Nvidia, I'm seeing not activity on the GPU. So I specifically checked of javaw and java in their respective locations and told Nvidia to run them high quality (clicked 'apply' button and everything), but Intel card still runs them. I really don't know what to do at this point, having to play Technic mod packs on integrated graphics card just isn't possible with FPS issues. If someone could help please let me know. Thanks.:twitch:

Are you certain the modpack uses the 64bit version of java? (you can check this in your task manager)
If so, are you certain you added the correct java version to the nvidia control panel? If you've got both java 32bit and java 64bit installed(quite common), you'll have a java map in both your "Program Files (x86)" and your native "Program Files" map. You'll want to add the java files in the native map for 64bit java.

Yes I'm certain I did this correctly, I just doesn't make sense that my card is ignoring this regardless.

Unfortunately, updating the driver did not seem to fix the problem. After making sure jawaw and java were both set to high graphics, I rebooted my PC and tried to run Technic Launcher modpack. The GPU still has no activity on it.

Make sure your JAVA_HOME is set in your CLASSPATH.

How would I do that?

open environmental variables and under system variables look for JAVA_HOME. If it is there make sure the directory is pointed at the right location.

So I have no JAVA_HOME in User or System variables. When I create one, what should I put into the variable value?

the variable value should be the directory of your java installation. for me it is C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_05

Okay, I set the JAVA_HOME class path correctly and rebooted. Nvidia card still isn't running javaw or java though.

You could try this:

I've found a work-around. Under the NVIDIA control panel at the top of the window there's File, Edit, Desktop, etc. Click on Desktop and checkmark the (Add "Run with graphics processor" to context menu) option. This will let you right click on any executable and pick which GPU to use for it that one time (like the run as Administrator option). For some reason, telling the drivers to run Minecraft.exe using the NVIDIA GPU by default doesn't work, but picking the GPU manually through this right clicking option does. Only issue I see now is that for some reason it drops to the desktop with a black DOS window open for a split second at random and then the game continues as though nothing happened. Source

Swap minecraft.exe for the Technic Launcher .exe.

You could also browse to the javaw.exe, right click and see if it shows the Nvidia card is set to default in that "Run with graphics processesor" menu.

Oh believe me I tried that in the very beginning. But thanks for the tip. Honestly at this point, I see no hope in solving this issue.

Sometimes you need both 32 and 64bit versions of Java/FLASH etc like that to have the most compatibility
