Hey everyone;

To try and squeeze out a few more frames from my lil' 9600 I decided to try overclocking.
I'm using Nvidia's ntune and so far I'm at....

GPU Core clock: 755MHz from 700
GPU Memory clock: 1100 from 1000

with temp around 50-55c under load.

My question is how much more do you think I can push it without getting into sketchy territory?

Thanks :)

Depends on the card. 9600GTs are pretty beastly clockers; push her as far as she'll go!

Oh, that's great news :D

Seeing as I'm quite the noob when it comes to overclocking is there anything I should be careful of while I'm overclocking?

Just do about 5-10mhz raises until u get artifacts, that's usually the best way to test your cards to find out what the limit is.

Alright.

I'm sure this question is going to make most of you laugh but... What are artifacts?

And what program besides ATI tool can I use to scan for artifacts?

Thanks! :toast:

you'll now when you see it's basically when your card fails and the pictures gets all messed up somehow, usually it will be a static effect.

Awesome, well I'll see how far I can get :D

Thanks again you guys, like always you've been a huge help!

glad we could help!

remeber to crank up the fan, and check the temps. Good Luck

Which brand of 9600 are you using? The standard reference design has an issue where overcurrent protection will kick in and disable the card if pushed too hard. Power cycling the system will get it back to normal. You will know if it happens... completely black screen.

It gets worse if you try voltage modding the card but sounds like that is not something you are about to do...

Non-reference designs like Palit do not have this issue.

Just FYI.
