So, I haven't yet played the game because the graphics put me off (lame excuse I know).

What is the best texture mod out there for this game? Probably wishful-thinking but I'd like to have Skyrim-quality textures...

I hear Morrorwind Rebirth is a good one, but I doubt you'll ever get to Skyrim-quality textures. EDIT: As well as improved textures, the Rebirth mod does include additional gameplay features. A mod that is just for graphics would be the Morrorwind Graphics & Sound Overhaul.

Don't let the graphics ruin it for you, its a pretty good game. I remember thinking the graphics looked bad when it came out too (2002).

It's a great open world game and few games can hold a candle to it for creativity even now. If the graphics break your immersion then best to let it go.

I'm personally replying it as Morroblivon. They have the entire main quest, maybe the side quests too? Not sure. All cut scenes. It is morrowind with the oblivion engine. Although I'm not sure if it would be good to play it as a first run through morrowind, it does have the graphics you want. Morrowind is still my favorite game, however, after playing oblivion, I could not go back to morrowind due to the graphics. So Morroblivon is the only way to do it.

EDIT: So yeah all quests are complete.

I'd say to skywind but you won't be able to experience the full game as it is incomplete quest wise.

True, true. I'd forgotten about Morroblivion.

Installed & ready!
That was just fantastic!
Thanks.

I wonder if Oblivion mods (like Qarl's Texture Pack) will work with this, considering the game runs under Oblivion.

You people are like gods to me...........I'm not worthy :respect:

Protip: kill Fargoth.

I saw some Skywind screenshots they're much better, but Skywind isn't complete yet..

The only thing I regret to say is that I don't think you will be experiencing Morrowind as it truly should be experienced nor do I know if you can. What I mean by that is, on classic MW, you could create potions/scrolls to augment stats, and augment robes, and stack robes and armor (at the same time) to the point where you could reach acrobatics of over 100, something like 300 maybe more and it would scale in the game world, so that when you jumped, you could literally jump sky high fly from one town to another and land. You truly felt the power grow on your player. There was also levitate. Now I'm not that far into MO myself but I'm skeptical if they could maintain that.

I just hope the experience is as good for you as it was for me. A whole summers worth of MW,so much fun, no regrets.

What I did wrongly was purchasing Oblivion before Morrowind. Had I played the games 'in their correct order' I wouldn't have minded the graphics I guess.
By comparison, here's the original Morrowind.

lol yup :) got spoiled :)

I get used to bad graphics after an hour or so and until I play modern games again its fine.

just a fyi, morrowind as a game is about 20x better than oblivion.. oblivion looked better but really was a disappointment compared to morrowind.

That's pretty much all she wrote. Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls imo. If you can get past the graphics issues that is.

Meh. Disappointment was Daggerfail, and ESO. Other than that, I've enjoyed all of their games.

I was actually disappointed with skyrim on release. I was expecting graphics like that of Crysis 3 for it. Still enjoyed it though.
My reasoning was that given the jump from morrowind to oblivion, a similar jump would put Skyrim at an extraordinary level of graphics. Instead I got a slightly updated Oblivion.

i much prefer skyrim over oblivion even if it did have some absolute game killing bugs in it when i last played.
you know its bad when you have to use a console command to finish your quest because pushing the button to do what it tells you to do does nothing.
but i think morrowind is still my fave, but it is ugly lol. then again so is new vegas and i enjoy that too. i like non linear open world type rpg's
i played metro and i do like it, but its a bit to single direction for me and more of a simple fps rather than rpg type "build stats up on things you want to improve". i wish atari did a updated boiling point road to hell. and a new stalker game wouldn't be a bad idea either.
