The Display Went Dim After Changing The DVI-VGA Cable

Hi, Guys
Till Yesterday I Was Using a VGA Cable and a DVI Adapter. But Today when I Installed my DVI-VGA Cable the Display went Dim. I test it in another PC and It worked fine!

So you're saying that the DVI to VGA adapter works, but your newer DVI to VGA cable (all in one) does not work, but does on another computer? Did you restart the computer after switching it? VGA is not hot swappable, it needs to be told to either re-detect the display or the machine needs to be restarted. Just switching the cable won't usually work.

Did you restart the computer after switching it? VGA is not hot swappable, it needs to be told to either re-detect the display or the machine needs to be restarted. Just switching the cable won't usually work.

It's still nice to know why something might not be working though, despite having an alternative.

Yes, I restart it and even Turned Off and On the PC!

The Cable is alot easier for me than the adapter!

I did also just make the assumption that this isn't your primary display. If it's not POSTing either as the primary display I would say that's weird and I'm not sure. I would have to think on it a little bit more.

I am also assuming this is for the system in your specs. Let me know if any of these assumptions I'm making aren't true. The more we know, the better.

Hmmmm. Almost sounds like DDC isn't working with the cable. Maybe it's a bad cable or a bad contact. The newer cable is basically just the adapter built into the cable, so it's not like it's doing anything differently than what you had before. I'm unsure. If you have more than one DVI port, I would try a different one, otherwise I would assume that it's the cable since the adapter plus cable works fine.

Try in Power Options, on the power plan you have, press Restore defaults..., save, reboot and see if it is ok...

Well thats what Im trying to say its a bad cable its as simple as that, I see no reason for further testing as the adapter connection works.

well, if it's a bad cable why did it work on my friend's pc properly?!

Id bet on different VGA (head signal), different signal converter in monitor (less picky).
Or the cable is causing interference which is filtered out better on the other setup

I'll try to find another Cable and check it on my PC.

First off get off your high horse!

Second reseat your video card and make sure you are connecting the cable to both the monitor and video card while both are powered off then make sure the power switch is on both the tower and monitor... try the monitor on a different computer.

Bet you were in so much of a hurry that you damaged a part of your machine

I think we established that the cable is probably at fault in some way, shape, or form.
@eidairaman1 : You don't need to go placing blame and I don't think that's the case. It seems pretty clear that the cable is at fault. If it were the GPU itself, the adapter would be having issues as well since it's doing the same thing.
@aliniceboy : You've got your answer. You don't need to say things like this:
