Thermalright introduced the Burst Assassin 120 EVO DARK, a performance-segment air CPU cooler. The cooler relies on a conventional D-type aluminium fin-stack heatsink that's ventilated by a pair of fans in push-pull configuration. Its design involves a nickel-plated copper base from which six 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes draw heat, conveying it to an aluminium fin-stack. This 52 mm-thick fin-stack has fins with jagged edges to increase air turbulence, and heat dissipation. The stack is covered by a metal top-plate with a brushed aluminium finish. Ventilating the heatsink is a pair of 120 mm fans.

Unlike most other companies, Thermalright includes two different kinds of 120 mm fans. The first one is a Thermalright TL-C12B V2 meant to be installed in the "push" position, and the second one is a TL-C12RB V2 intended for the "pull" position. Both fans feature fluid dynamic bearings, 4-pin PWM inputs, and top speeds of 1,500 RPM; however the push fan offers 66.17 CFM of maximum airflow, while the pull fan does 58 CFM. The static pressure ratings of both fans are 1.58 mm H₂O, and both their maximum noise outputs are rated at 25.6 dBA. With the two fans in place, the Thermalright Burst Assassin 120 EVO DARK measures 124 mm x 156 mm x 102 mm (WxHxD). The company didn't mention weight. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1700, AM5, AM4, and LGA1200/115x.

Thermalright makes excellent and cost-efficient products, though I do question their naming choices.

"Burst" is the last thing you want to hear about a CPU cooler doing, even if it's not an AIO.

(Continuation from other thread wrt TT)

One down...56 more model releases this year to go.

(I'm not complaining; they offer great price/perf, I just find their whole their conceit [of flooding the market] very amusing).

The white ones are nicer:

I would not focus to much on the naming scheme but the product it self and it's performance. I'm very excited for this, I love Thermalright. Can't wait to see a review and hope pricing is competitive.

The Burst Assassin 120 is the cheapest Thermalright cooler sold on Amazon directly by Thermalright Europe that has a solid nickel-plated copper baseplate.

This matters for AM4 and AM5 CPUs where the density of cores in a tiny little CCD really don't do well with direct-contact heatpipes.

For £16 or so, the BA120 is fantastic, so realistically the EVO DARK needs to not be too much more expensive, especially when the more capable (but physically larger) PA120 and FC140 are available for very very aggressive pricing.

I can't wait for you to revise the hierarchy in another (week) month or so when they launch the [buzzword] [buzzword] 120, and again after the 140 iteration.

(I'm kidding; I agree with you. Their lineup is solid and has consideration for just about everything.)

But seriously TT, new C-type cooler when? I can't be the only one that uses them, and wouldn't mind a new one with clearance for a desktop (meaning horizontal/HTPC) case built for the height of 140mm case fans.
