It has been almost a year since I got my hands on the X140e now!
And I am excited to be the FIRST reviewer of this computer.
Lenovo has just released this hardware configuration on this model,
which makes it the Worlds Fastest Gaming Netbook:
This laptop is AMAZING quality its current Black - Friday / Cyber - Monday price tag of $259 same day delivered by Amazon. Retail is closer to $600 so snag em while you can!
The construction has VERY LITTLE plastic! A lot of carbon and brushed metal! It is very solid and does not bend even when held from the edges.
2 USB, Card Reader, Webcam, HDMI, Ethernet, Wifi, Bluetooth, Headphone-combo-jack, volume and power buttons on the side. The battery is located UNDER the bottom cover were you can also find 1x RAM slot and your SATA slot for your H-drive. I am a little sad that only 1 ram slot is available, but you can put up to a 16GB stick in there so you are not too limited on memory.
SPECS
----------------------------
CPU: AMD A4-6210 Quad Core 4x 1.80GHz 2MB L2
GPU: AMD Radeon R3 128@600MHz
RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix PC12800 9-9-9-24 (upgraded from 4GB)
HDD: 256GB AMD Radeon SSD
The Processor is by far the BIGGEST jump!
The previous A4-5000 was decent but would lack single thread processing power due to its rather low clock speed of only 1.5GHz.
The jump to 1.80GHz gives youa much needed %20 gain in clock speed across all 4 cores, improving both single and multi-tasking.
The GPU is a smaller, but still noticeable improvement.
AMD paired the APU up with R3 graphics and Lenovo decided to throw the fastest R3 chip in the 11e that is available with 128 cores @ 600MHz.
The performance is pleasing! Paired with low latency - high speed RAM (9-9-9-24) PC12800 8GB Crucial Ballistix and a %20 overclock with MSI Afterburner, I was able to obtain 1007 3D Mark 11 Points.
(vs 700 points with the X140e)
Gaming Performance
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am able to run ANY title available on low settings!
Some on higher details and a few older titles even maxed out like Resident Evil 5 and Left4Dead2, which
take great advantage of the multiple CPU cores. Titles like GTA IV, World of Tanks, the latest Call of Duty series and Battlefield 3 all run at full native resolution (1366x768) with high texture and the rest low at a minimum 30+ FPS (busy scenes). Even the highest demanding and latest titles will run at lowest setting.
GTA 5 is giving 40+ FPS on lowest set up.
GREAT PORTABLE GAMING COMPUTER!
When it comes to budget gaming nothing on the market comes close in such a small size!
