Welcome to the 20th week of 2024 and this week kicks off with a huge AAA space saga that some of you have been eagerly waiting for. However, we have a second AAA title this week, which is a few years old Playstation game that, despite the title, doesn't have anything to do with ghosts. The rest of this week's releases involve aliens, rhythms, world wars and pirates.

Homeworld 3 / This week's first AAA title / Monday 13 May
Tactical, beautiful, and wholly unique, the GOTY-winning sci-fi RTS returns with Homeworld 3. Assume control and battle through fleet combat in dazzling, fully 3D space while the award-winning story unfolds on a galactic scale. Strategic freedom is yours. Hulking space derelicts called megaliths bring 3D terrain into the classic Homeworld battlespace. Use the crumbling remains of an ancient civilization to funnel foes into a brilliant ambush or hide your fleet from powerful enemies. Fortresses teem with menacing turrets and invite your strike craft into dangerous trench runs deep behind enemy lines. But not everything is in your control. Dangerous space phenomena like particle storms and asteroid fields will test even senior commanders. Steam Link

Ruindog / Monday 13 May
After centuries of invincibility, it became popular for humans to watch live alien hunting shows, participate in alien hunts, save up money, equipment, and use all the loot you find to move on to new maps and defeat more powerful enemies. Steam Link

Robobeat / Tuesday 14 May
You're Ace - a famous bounty hunter after your latest target, the eccentric robot-showman Frazzer. To find your way through his twisted techno-playground, you'll have to master the art of shooting, wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping, all in sync with the beat! Get ready to dance till you're dead and then suit up for the remix in rogue-like rhythm shooter Robobeat. Steam Link

Men of War II / Wednesday 15 May
Experience World War II real-time strategy gameplay like never before! Men of War II, the new chapter in the evolution of the top-rated RTS franchise, brings you an unprecedented number of units with different specializations to command, unyielding attention to historical fidelity, new levels of visual and audio excellence, as well as advanced enemy AI. Lead your troops in intense real-time battles on the Western and Eastern Fronts and overwhelm your opponents in epic narrative single-player campaigns and skirmish modes before diving deep into the multiplayer action. Steam Link

Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut / This week's second AAA title / Thursday 16 May
In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan.
As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, courageous samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands resolute. As one of the last surviving members of his clan, Jin is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima. Steam Link

Seablip / Friday 17 May
Go from humble beginnings to a feared pirate captain in this seafaring open-world adventure! Enhance your reputation as you take on bounties, upgrade your ship, hire a crew and search for treasure, or just go fishing instead! Steam Link

Is Homeworld 3 really considered a triple-A title?

Meh. I do not need these games. I have plenty of games i haven't completed yet, i all ready have.

This week i desided to go old school and play some Fallout 3 and after that new vegas. Games i got for free, but never tried so far. Also got keys for Fallout 4 and fallout 76 + all the other games i still haven't completed yet such as robocop rough city, avatar the frontier of Pandora and Bunch of zombie games.

So i better just complete what i all ready got, before buying new games.

No sometimes you have to hold your wallet closet. Else it just end in one evil circle, you buy games, then buy new again and again. Before you realize it, some games is now 6 years old and you never touched then for 1 minut or at least only for a few hours and then move on because you had something new coming all the time and that is what have happen to me.

Enough is enough. I have to many games never touched or only played throw a few hours.

You're doing well then. I've got games in my library that are over 20 years old that I have been playing through and I'm only managing that due to being retired for a couple of years now.

You know that the GOG and Steam Summer Sales are coming in about a month. Don't tell me you aren't tempted to buy some more heavily discounted games anyway. :)

Hornestly, most of the money i have to to use for fun. Have been thrown at my pc for upgrades. Look at my spec and you can properly realize that haven't been a cheat affair. I will rather spent money on pc upgrade than buying games i might never touch.

I mostly buy games/keys from g2a and not directly from steam, gog and others. Normally thats cheaper. At least not on sale.

I've read that the HW3 campaign is relatively short, under 15 hours. As a grown working adult, I'm ok with this. Anything over 20 hours feels like a chore unless it's extremely engaging.

Men of war 2 for me:
  • RTS
  • coop
  • WW2

it ticks all the necessary checkboxes for -on paper- something great sounding

I agree. We don't need games competing on being long. We need them competing on being good.

Men of War 2 is the one, and I'll get homeworld 3 when it's in the discount section.
