I have XP pro running on my old hard drive and I just got a new drive to put Vista Home Prem. on. The old drive is IDE, while the new is SATA.

I want to share information between the drives....is there anyone that knows how?

I guess (based one what Ive read) that the file systems are different.....

Thanks for the help.

unless maybe a partition with the files on - read it as a seperate drive? both OS'es should pick up on that, i would think so anyway.

The interface is not relevant for the data on them. I use Ghost a lot, though there are also some free alternatives like G4L.

Basically they copy the hard disk including everything on them. Do make sure your SATA drivers are installed though, otherwise Windows won't boot from the new disk.

I dont want to copy all the files, is there a way to do just selected folders?

Just install the Vista on the SATA drive, boot in Vista and copy what you need from the old drive. You should be able to dual boot that way if you want.

I tried that...and the ownership wanted to be changed...and permission wasnt allowed. Will I have to change the xp drive to a slave? And if I do that, would I still be able to boot from it?
