Hello,
I'm in the process of building another PC and I want to know if it's possible for two versions of Windows to reside next to each other legitimately. I would have windows 7 and 10 as a dual-boot system. So if I buy OEM keys and activate them would one de-activate the other? I know that OEM licence keys are bound to the mobo and are irrevocable. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It will work just fine, buy why?

If you did the free upgrade to 10 you can revert back to 7 with no problem

Never dual-booted?

Sure with Windows /Linux

Windows 10 has a native boot screen for running dual boot OS. Recently I've run windows 10 alongside windows seven. I found it less convenient using the windows 10 boot screen switch because it actually has to start ,post ,load windows 10 ,then if you choose Windows 7 it restarts the PC entirely into Windows 7 ,but if you choose windows 10 you're already halfway there.but regardless it does work just fine as long as you have two separate keys

Hi, thanks for the informative replies. I missed the boat on the free Win 10 upgrade but I've heard that you only get 30 days grace period before it stays Win 10 and you cannot go back. I've dual booted Oses before (Win98 and XP, Win 7 and Win 10) without activation so I'm familiar with the process I just wanted to know if the newest OS key would de-activate the older OS key or if I would run into any potential problems down the road, and like jboydgolfer says it restarts your PC if you have both 7 and 10 installed and you want just 7 running.
