uBlock Origin... How the heck do you use it?

OK, this may be a really dumb question but how the heck do you use it? OK, I know... you load filter subscriptions, that much I know but I'm talking about this thing.

What the heck are all of those controls? Green? Gray? Red? WTF? I've looked elsewhere on the Internet and there's no explanation that I can find that gives any idea what any of that crap means. What do I do if I need a site to work but the blockers have broken the site? I'd rather unblock some items instead of turning uBlock Origin off completely.

So does anyone have a clue?

I actually went back to Adblock Plus because it was so confusing, and I didn't find a way to whitelist pages. Adblock Plus + Ghostery works well enough.

I've never felt the need to dig into uBlock Origin since it does what I want, but I can answer the whitelist question really quick:

Mouse-over the giant power button. Clicking it enables/disables for the entire site. CTRL+Clicking for that specific page.

Uh? Where even is this? Just tweak Settings and 3rd party filter lists. And that's it. I told them default out of the box config is bad and stupid, but they didn't listen. Oh well. But after changing filter lists, it's great.

ublock origin is controlled by the icon on the page itself

click the icon while on a page and this appears: hit the power button to turn on/off for that page

Never seen that junk, never felt the need to.

Do you have some sort of advanced feature enabled or something? All I do is use the big power button, on or off depending on my mood, the weather, and time of day.

Uncheck all Privacy settings if you're only concerned over ads blocking.

As for filters, I only use these. Very basuic with removal of stupid warnings about blocking ads and Unbreak is to fix pages broken by filters. I don't need the rest.
