I have a phenom 2 x2 550 and a phenom 2 x2 555 be. I have read about unlocking th e tha last 2 core with an ASUS board . I have an ASUS board, M4A77TD, which has the 710/750 chipset with ACC. But most instructions all talk about the EC and setting it to hybrid and unleashed. those options don't exist on this board.
Has anyone used a M4A77TD to unlock the last cores on the Phenom 2, and what did you use for settings ?

Turn ACC On AUTO instead of OFF. That should be it.

And ... How it went ? Are they unlockable ?

wow it's that easy, i have a 720 x3 and a x2 550, i think i will fire them up tomorrow and give them a whirl, thanks for the info

I guess I will also note that if they lowered the voltage when they disabled the cores, they should auto back to normal, but you may have to play with the CPU voltage to get them to be stable in some cases. I hope it works out for you.

3 cores unlockable haven't oc yet, did incrimental voltage increases no help there, I still have my 550 x2 to try later, will let you know how that one does!

update!!!!!

My 550 X2 non BE opened all 4 cores, It was unstable at first, but I undervolted and it is a lot more stable. Now comes the dilemma!
I have got a 555 (3.2) BE that unlocks 3 cores and runs stable or I have this 550 (3.1) non BE that all 4 unlock and seems to run stable. Which is better 4 cores @ 3.1 or 3 cores @3.2?

With 100 mhz difference you will hardly notice any fps difference in games that do not utilize more than 2 cores. I would say go with the 550 and later you can fine tune to get more mhz out of it. Most newer apps takes benefit of the Quad.

Another thing, did u use OEM cooler or after market better cooler that can take 125+ watts?

On the 555 before unlocking put the voltage at 1.5v and then try unlocking, it will unlock, then go for the lower voltage.

I used an Arctic cooling Freezer Pro, never tried the stock ones out, they don't look like they are all that great. but according to my temp monitors it really nevert got hot, BC2 on line for a couple hours and it's at 130 F
