Hi, i was wondering what upgrades i should consider for my current pc (the one in the specs, i just went thru and it is all current). I want to stay on my current platform (lga 1155) for now, but was wondering what i can do to improve performance for now, as far as i can tell my GPU is what is holding me back. I use my pc for web browsing, medium gaming (apex legends, fortnite, beamng.drive) and and very rarely video editing using adobe premier pro. My budget is arounf 200-250 USD. Goint to say it again, Im NOT looking to be told to go ryzen or new intel right now, i cant do it for now. All help is appreciated

you can try to upgrade the gpu to something like a gtx 1660 or 1660 super if budget allows. Or if you want to go on the used market you can find a 1070 for 160-180 dollars and the remaining to upgrade the cpu to a 3770 or 3770k if you can find it at a good price
I think also that anything more than a 1070 will be bottlenecked by the cpu (if you don't upgrade)

I agree with WatEagle, a new GPU is probably your best bet. I'd be hesitant to put any money into that LGA1155 platform (via a CPU or RAM upgrade) as it's definitely pretty dated. At least with a GPU upgrade you could reap some benefit immediately and would carry over to when you decide to upgrade to a modern Intel/AMD platform.

Probably if it goes with the 1660 super withe the actual cpu he will see a bit to moderated bottleneck
from personal experience I had an i5 7500, much newer cpu with the 1660 ti and I had bottleneck in almost every Single game

For sure. Yeah, OP might be a little less bottlenecked if they went for a 3770K, but they'd get much better value for their money if they saved it for a whole platform upgrade instead of dumping it into a dead end platform. Looks like 3770Ks start around $80 or so on ebay, which is a hell of a lot to pay for an almost nine year old processor that's only marginally better than what OP already has.

Nothing is really a "good" pairing for your CPU. Quoting @Vayra86 from your post back in May:
The key here is how fast you intend to upgrade the rest. If you're doing that within one year, by all means go big(ger) on the GPU. If not, keep it cheap, maybe even second hand.

Its not a good idea to buy a GPU that you cannot fully utilize, especially with new releases right in front of us. After all, a new release will push the price per FPS down a bit, by as much as 20-30%. Better off jumping in by then and get more mileage for your money, and get something that balances out nicely with what you have today instead.

On a 3570 I would just start saving for the whole rig minus perhaps storage, case and PSU. Get a good picture of what balance you are looking to achieve on a new platform, and scale your GPU on that.

If you're looking to upgrade everything relatively soon, I would go for the best GPU your budget allows. But if you're sticking on your 1155 platform for a while, a cheap "placeholder" GPU (maybe a used 570?) would be a decent upgrade without dipping too deep into future upgrade money.

Everything the other replies have said is true, but here's a slightly different perspective.

Any newer GPU you put in your machine will be an improvement over what you have. Yes, while a 1660 or above won't perform as fast as it's capable of because of your CPU, it's still going to be better.

If you've been ok until recently with a 750Ti, you'll be ok with whatever new card you buy when you are able to upgrade the rest of your system. It will be like getting another 10-20% of performance when you do.

My thoughts are 1650S, 1660, or 5500XT

Just my $.02

I would likely find a 3770 (maybe a 3770K and give it some overclock with improved cooling) like some have mentioned, possibly look at ram as with 10GB I am guessing the OP is not running in dual channel?

sorry for not replying ive been busy but i am running in dual channel i have 2 4gb sticks and 2 1gb sticks in 4 slots. Im not sure about upgrading to a 3770 because i dont think the hyper-threading will help me much.
