First...The following is my current setup. Wondering if I need to upgrade any other component of my rig on top of looking to upgrade to the new(ish) amd 7970 graphics card.

-AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055t processor 2.8ghz
-8gig ddr memory
-600 watt power supply
-ATI radeon HD 5570 graphics card x2 (SLI hookup)
-GA-880GA-UD3H motherboard

(If I left something out that's needed to answer the questions, yell at me, and then I'll edit the post )

Question: Do I need to upgrade any of the above to install an AMD Radeon 7970 graphics card? Thanks in advance for your time / help.

You should be fine, assuming your PSU has dual 6-pin plugs and is of decent quality. That should be the only thing you might NEED to change right now. More info on the brand and model fo that PSU may help straighten that one out.

Thanks for the hasty response and apologies for the lack of specificity with my psu. It is a...

ultra 600w atx

It actually needs a 6+2 (8pin) and 6 pin. Ultra PSU's are definitely not of very good quality unfortunately.

Thanks a lot Jet, both seem to be great options, appreciate the help. Now I just need to dial the two purchases into my budget and see how long I'll be eating PB and J's.

I would go for a 650W either Seasonic or Corsair.
