I have a lappy with windows 7 64 bit, want to make sure if I need drivers for a remote connection. Probably cabled connection on site..........Lappy info has i3 4core 8GB of memory Win 7 64bit. Any help.....

That's the newer version of the on I used for my IT Network Admin degree in college a few years ago.

The first one I listed uses a slightly newer version of the Prolific PL2303 chip which does the conversion. The newer chip is useful for Windows 8/10 compatibility without losing it on older OSes. Also didn't have to install drivers to use it that I can recall and I use mine at work, mostly on my Carbon X1 w/Win 10 on a regular basis.

I wouldn't rely on USB-to-DB9 for a 24/7 connection, had too many drop out (due to USB, even with power saving disabled). But that being said, the ones I linked should do what you need. :)
