USB2.0 showing up as USB1.1 for ECS G31T-M MB

Hi all,
Just built a budget rig w/ an ECS G31T-M motherboard and E6750 processor. Everything seems to be working correctly except for my USB speed problem.

Initially, all of my USB ports were functioning as 1.1 ports. Whenever I plugged in a flash drive or USB drive, I'd get the error about the ports not being hi-speed. In the device manager, there were 5 entries for "Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family ) USB Universal Host Controller."

I read somewhere that resetting my bios settings to DEFAULT might help with the problem. I did that and now one of my ports shows up as a USB 2.0 port -- "Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller". However, the other 4 are still performing as USB 1.1.

In the BIOS, my only USB options are ENABLE and DISABLE. There is nothing for ENHANCED.

I submitted a trouble ticket to ECS but haven't heard from them for several days now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:
Disonnect ALL USB devices.
Uninstall ALL USB controllers listed in the Hardware Manager.
Reboot.
Devices will be re-scanned and automatically installed if Windows feels okay with the drivers in the cache. Otherwise it would ask for drivers.

"Enhanced" is just the controller´s description (see "OpenHCD").

If the error remains, you might need a reinstall of the chipset drivers.

Do you have any external USB plugs (Front USB etc.) connected to your Mainboard?
Unplug them first!

Tried the obvious - device manager, USB controllers, reinstall driver (if you see an exclamation mark)?

Hi Austin,

Did you solve your problem? I'm having the exact same issue, USB ports showing 1.1 rather than 2.0 on an ECS G31T using an E6300 CPU. I will try deleting all my USB drivers and re-installing with the latest intel or ECS drivers. Anyone else heard of this or have a solution?

Thanks.

Hi again,

I finally got it to work. After reinstalling the USB drivers several times I went back to ECS and got the latest bios for the G31T motherboard. Even though they don't show any USB updates in the change log, after flashing my bios my USB ports now show and work as high speed. I should have known to update the bios before setting everything else up.
