Utorrent Optimization

I have to disagree with you there. My high wattage primary gaming machine as you put it is also my primary check my email/browse internet machine. Power saving tech has come a long way. Haswell runs at what 800MHz on .6v when idle? Graphics cards barely sip energy when idle as well.

my desktop uses about 60-80W at idle. my (5 year old) i7 laptop uses 17W for the same tasks. That laptop can have two drives (DVD bay adaptor) so it'd take mere moments to set it up with a 1TB download drive and transmission, and have it do triple duty as a steam box streamer to the lounge, NAS, and download box. My brothers got the lowest wattage desktop i know of (~40W idle, <150W load in most games) and its still heaps above a laptop.

Fair and valid point. I strive for efficiency wherever possible, but I'm just so much more comfortable on my desktop than a laptop, and having a laptop to do basic tasks I could handle more comfortably on my desktop overrides that, especially at a 20w difference.

I dunno, I'm pretty much spouting crap now. Guess this one pretty much comes down to personal preference for me.
