Any reason I shouldnt run my 9600xt on 9800 drivers?
Im using the latest omega drivers, been playing Oblivion with them installed and so far so good.
No hitches, glitches, artifacts... nothing:rockout:
The card is still stock clocked at 500/300 but Oblivion is running far better now than it was before.
Will this hurt my card any?
Heatsink and fan are stock replacements from ati. My old ones from visiontek fell apart.
Thanks

The card with not function correctly.

How do you know, that your card is running on 9800 drivers?

Shows in ati tool and windows device manager as a radeon 9800 xt

Didnt you change you cards device ID?

interesting, post more info.

Bah I finally got some artifacts on the desktop, nothing big just a few off color pixels here and there so Ive reverted to the latest catalyst drivers from ati but now Id like to try to OC the card.
Its a visiontek running at 500/300 but it wont budge even a smidgen from the stock settings even with the ati lock bypassed via atitool.
Anyone have any luck oc'ing this thing?

i have mine running at 550/400 all day long.. sapphire 9600xt 128mb

Well, did you up the agp voltage, is yer proc oc'd, extra cooling etc etc?

nope stock 40mm fan, stock voltages, idle temp 30 load 50 (c).
