Ok, I did follow the thread, but I'm still hating how much memory I'm using (just got envious of the other people in XP SP3 thread) and I didn't want to spam that thread with my problems, even though I think I kinda did.

Here's a screenie of task manager (is CLI start ok to not run on startup?)

If that says 81 I would be very concerned... I have 27 running idle on vista.

Well, you can pretty much safely kill any process under your own name.

If you have processes running that you havnt executed yourself, then they should be removed.

If this is a clean boot (assuming that firefox is open to view this page etc)
these are the programs I wouldnt want at boot.
Im not using Vista atm so im not really in a position to fine tune its services, but all of those processes should be 100% safe to remove from boot.

Csrss.exe - You cannot end this process from Task Manager.
This is the user-mode portion of the Win32 subsystem (with Win32.sys being the kernel-mode portion). Csrss stands for client/server run-time subsystem and is an essential subsystem that must be running at all times. Csrss is responsible for console windows, creating and/or deleting threads, and some parts of the 16-bit virtual MS-DOS environment.

See.

Are you referring to the amount of ram it is using? The longer it is open, the more it uses. It caches a certain number of visited pages to ram, by default.

To stop it, type about:config in your address bar and hit enter.

In the "Filter:" text box, type cache (don't have to hit enter)

Double click on browser.cache.memory.enable to disable it.

Or double click browser.cache.memory.capacity to lower the amount of cache it stores.

I recommend just lowering it, as disabling it can drastically increase page load times for your most visited pages.
