Hi, i recently installed Vista x64 on one of my drives. the good news is that it recognizes all my RAM (4GB), the bad news, so far, is that i no longer have the < or > to show or hide inactive icons (it is normally to the left of the clock and other icons in the bottom right side of the screen). is this a known problem in Vista x64? i have already tried to edit the registry thinking that the problem was there, but it wasn't. i have already enabled the settings in the taskbar so that inactive icons SHOULD hide, but the little arrow (< or >) doesnt show up; just a blank space where it should be.

thanks in advance for any solutions or help.

If you don't have enough icons to hide, it'll ignore it and not hide any items. Usually, it's up to about 3/4 items, before it starts hiding, in XP at least. Or that's my experience.

What icons are there? They may all be active and not need hiding :p.

thanks for the replies.

many of them DO need some hiding as they have been inactive for quite some time; still though, even if they were active, the chevron should still be visible and that is what i am trying to get.

thanks again. any more ideas?

When you go into customize in the icons area (properties of the taskbar), select an item to "always hide" and see if it starts to happen.

yep, just got it. seems to work, albeit not the same as in xp. thanks for the replies :)
