I have fond memories of playing the original a long time ago, but it is a series that I want to revisit.

Where should I start?

If you still remember the original, you can just jump into Human Revolution, followed by Mankind Divided. Invisible War is ok-ish, though it suffers heavily from consolitis in terms of visuals and gameplay; The Fall is a port of a mobile game, and while it has some narrative elements that add to both HR and MD, its gameplay is just a simplified version of HR.

Try and play HR without killing anyone. Quite fulfilling.

The original Deus Ex has not aged well IMO. Invisible war is... eeeeeh. Honestly, despite the bad rep human revolution got about the ending, the two new ones are pretty well made games.

I would say the original, but maybe that's nostalgia talking.

You Should Start with the Prequels to the Original Deus Ex, then play DEx, then finish with the Sequels.

Remember the very old games, Set Frame Pacing/Limit so you dont get random speedup/slow down and crank up the Details to max in game and on amd control panel-if possible set a profile.

Lower GPU clock speed if possible too.

Deus Ex on a x1950 Pro needed that.

I'd play them in the order they released. To be honest, I never really cared for the story (largely incoherent, endings never fulfilling). I play them for the gameplay.

I completed the first one about 6 times now. Start with the first one, try to play the vanilla game and if it feels too old/clunky install GMDX like @Drone said and start again.
