System Name OLD POS
Looking for a new GPU and I've kind of narrowed it down to a couple of models.
Either 770 2 BG/or 4, VS 280X or 290
how much Mem should I go with the GTX 770 2 ($322) or 4 ($410) and really the r9 290 ($410) is more realistic in price the 290x their too expensive
Which is better the 770 4GB or r9 290

Lastly, once time passes and the prices on GPU will fall I'm going to get another card so I'm going to go with 2 card sli or whatever AMD calls it.
BTW there is a real cheap 780 GPU for 430, do you guys think it’s a garbage model

1. Don't bother with the 4gb version. It won't do anything for you.

2. Does a difference of 15% performance matter to you? Yes? R9 290. No? GTX 770

3. Check out reviews of the cards you want.

*Nevermind that. Get that 780. Good deal and a good card.

Don't post the same thread in multiple places. You only need one.

I prefer gtx 770 (2) or 780, very great gpu`s, silent and quality. In terms of performance gtx 770+15%=780 or 290. 290 very loud comparing to nvidia gtx 770 or 780, so if you get 290 you should install water on it. As for me i`d choose MSI GAMING GTX 780, the same model as you posted.

I play in World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Heroes of Storm, Hearthstone, Diablo, and wanna say gtx 770 is better than amd r9 290X! in this games, as well as tdp, a lot cooler and silent Nvidia gpus, and i do love the grade of nvidia drivers. Try to search about G-sync too. If comparing is only about performance, than it really depends on games you will play most. Its like:
wow_1920_1080.gif
btw WoW is mmo so fps can drop to a 30-40 in raids on ultra.

The R9 290 Tri-X is really quite according to W1zz's review of the R9 290X Tri-x. It also has more overall performance than a GTX 770. Yes it's slower in Wow but you won't notice that unless you have a 120hz monitor because the card still manages to push 100+ FPS.

I couldn't image buying a GTX 770 over a Radeon R9 280 (7950 Boost Ed) or a Radeon R9 280x. Radeon's are better priced.

If you are gaming at 2560x1440 or above go with an R9 290 or Crossfired R9 280's/280x's.

Under. Pick your poison, I would highly recommended whatever you get make sure you get 2+ years warranty and dual or tri fans.

BTW: I currently run crossfired R9 280's at 4k res and they are good, but I think I would prefer an overclocked R9 290.

R9 290 Sapphire is indeed very quiet. Also an excellent card, overclocked an it comes close the 290x.

Ultra HD 4K with AA and heavy modified/textured games using more than 2GB VRAM = Crossfire R9 290x
Ultra HD 4K with AA and non modified/normal games using less than 2GB VRAM = SLI GTX 780 Ti (check your VRAM requirements, some games exceed 3GB)
1600p with AA and heavy modified/textured games using more than 2GB VRAM = Crossfire R9 290 (MSI or Sapphire Tri-x) or SLI GTX 780 (check your VRAM requirements, some games exceed 3GB)
1600p with AA and non modified/normal games using less than 2GB VRAM = SLI GTX 780 (any version, though hear Windforce is good again)
1080p with AA and heavy modified/textured games using more than 2GB VRAM = GTX 780TI
1080p with AA and non modfieid/normal games using less than 2GB VRAM = GTX 780TI or GTX 780 or GTX 680/670 2GB modified SLI
