so i bought a Unify for my 10850k.
it overclocks awesome, runs stable but the front panel USB is weird.

it is correctly plugged in and functional.
but there is one weird problem.

i have a NZXT H710 and two USB Ports

both ports are functional but from my devices only a few work on each port.

for example:
my external SSD works on both
my USB Adapter for my XBox One Controller only in the first one
my iPad only in the second one
my Cloud II Headset only in the first one
my USB "Charger" Cable for my g903 hero wireless only in the second one.

and my Galaxy S20 works in Both.

unplugged it twice, reinstalled windows (did that anyways after swapping my board).

it is completely random which device will run on which port. but it never changes. i can plug my xbox controller adapter 200 times in a row in each port and it works 200 times in the first one but not the second and vice versa for other devices.

any ideas?

Well, according to your manual, that MSI Unify board supports a wide range of USB devices.

And according the case's webpage, it has on the front panel,

1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C
2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A
And your case's manual is one of the worst I have ever seen :( - well the download version anyway - very hard for 68 year old eyes to see. But it is showing the 3 USB ports too (1 Type-C and 2 Type-A). I am wondering if your problem has anything to do with power through those ports. I note in your manual it also says,
In order to recharge your iPad,iPhone and iPod through USB ports, please install MSI® DRAGON CENTER utility

It probably has to do with the amperage the ports can deliver at a time. If you exceed it or if the board over all causes instability from the overclocks, the USB devices will fail. Check BIOS options regarding how much current the ports deliver, and see if you get Windows errors regarding USB device failure.

Sometimes it's as simple as bad contact on FP_USB3 header. Just reseat it and make sure that pins aren't bent. I had several cases, where one of the ports would only accept USB3 devices and ignore USB2 (or opposite), or some where ports would intermittently refuse to work (either one or both). In most instances it was either a loose header or a bad front panel cable.

Use bluetooth for xbox controller it is so much better than wireless adapter. Once I got z490 unify I threw that wireless adapter in the trash.

For your issue: I would make sure you got latest chipset driver installed and check device manager for any errors.
