I have an Apollo Lake BRIX, which is powered by Intel 600 graphics. When I set up the BRIX, somehow “Intel Driver & Support Assistant” was installed with the drivers. Everything seemed to be working just fine, then today it notified me of a driver update. So I let it download and install the new driver and then rebooted. When I get back to Windows 10, the assistant notifies me yet again that I have a new driver update. I dismiss it, and it pops up again...and again...and again. It ended up leaving 20 notifications about new drivers! The system seems to work ok, but I couldn't get the notifications to stop until I force quit the exe. I then uninstalled the assistant entirely.

Another quirk I noticed during the driver install was references to /dell/ in the install directories. Odd, cause my system is a Gigabyte BRIX. I got the drivers straight from Intel, so how would Dell get in the mix?

sounds shady to me. hmm. might be a time for a backup and a clean install of win 10. i do clean installs every 6 months.

I mainly don't trust windows for drivers. I use Program 3DP or Driver Booster and yes these are 3rd party Programs but been using them with several computers without issues. I'd personally would try 3DP

dell? you install any driver update program?

I can’t recall if I got these from Intel’s website or just let Windows 10 install them. Either way, I wouldn’t have chosen anything Dell related. I may have just downloaded the assistant and let it scan my system and pick the right driver. What is odd is that the directory that the installer references has /dell/ in the middle. I may try to hunt for the temp folder and see if the files are still there.

This might actually be a Gigabyte thing. From time to time, the Taiwanes board makers have ended up with Dell drivers. I've seen this before, but I couldn't tell you why they use them, rather than something directly from Intel.

Yeah, it’s strange to be sure. Like I said, the system otherwise performs just fine, so it’s possible it’s even a glitch with Windows 10 Notification Center.

could be like that, but it's not common except maybe for old stuff

Well to my guess the Windows Driver If* installed first Before you go to use 3rd party Program will say overwrite the Driver already installed? but anyways I recently used 3DP and All is fine
