So I am finally getting my PNY 7800GT next week. Why PNY? because it was cheapest, and its reference design (means no problems with Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev 3s). No Games, no Extras...no need for 'em. Cost me 309€s incl. Taxes and shipping.

So I was wondering what were you 7800GT owners able to OC your cards to?

cheers

I just picked up an eVGA 7800GT CO.....I am dumping my Sapphire x850pro...I went from a 3dmark05 score of 5600 to 5800 with the x850pro to 7400 to 7600 with the 7800GT....so I would say there is a difference between the card. This leads me to wondering if I OC my 7800GT what kind of scores can I get. What are you using to Overclock your 7800GT...I did use ATITool for my 850pro...and I know NVidia has coolbits...so I may use that.....but if you have some other application to OC NVIDIA cards let me know....I will also post my restults....

well I managed 450/1100MHz with my PNY 7800GT (the card has absolut reference design, down to color of PCB and cooler). Going to buy myself an NV Silencer 5 Rev 3 and see if I can't get more out of it. Coolbits found my max for the card at 458/1110MHz, but safe is safe...The card you have has the big copper heatsink, and comes factory OCed right? I get 7500 points with 450/1100MHz.

It does have the copper heatsink and I believe it comes from the factory at 470/1100MHz. I will try coolbits and see how far I can take it :)

Hi there:

I tried coolbits and it let me safely OC to 490/1200MHz. Not too bad....I ran ATITool to scan for artifacts for and hour and a half and it didn't find any. I ran 3dmark05 and went for 7510 to 7700...so it's not too bad for my first OC run with this card....I am not too sure how much OC over clock I have with this card.....I may try to go to 500 on the core...also the card averages about 72 degrees under load (ATITool artifact scan)....I should get a hold of aquamark and try it.

Well that is some serious speed you can get out of your card! nice! there is a way to increase voltage to the card by editing the bios, I am going to try that once i get the NV Silencer 5r3. just waiting for my favorite store to get them.

cheers

If you have instructions on how to edit the bios for the volt mod let me know......

I have the evga 7800gt with a zalman cooler on it and used atitool to overclock it. Found max core to be 489 and max memory to be 630 (1260 effective). I run the card at 475 core, 610 memory to be safe and have had no problems. I get 7833 on 3dmark05 and 3828 on 3dmark06.
