we need a new poll - or at least "already running it legit!"

I agree. I have an MSDN account so I've been running the RTM since the first day it was released on MSDN.

I've been running Win 7 x64 on my main rig since the first beta and haven't had any major problems. When Vista came out, a lot of my apps required upgrades so that they could run at all; I have'nt had to upgrade anything to run on Win 7. I had been running Vista x86 because there was no Cisco VPN support for x64, but on Win 7 I can run the VPN client in Virtual XP mode!

I agree that the price of Win 7 is very high, but it is kind of a moot point for me. I haven't paid for an OS in years. I make sure that I attend a Microsoft launch event for each new OS and get a free copy. In fact, the one for Win 7 is coming up in a couple of weeks.

it's official. when nvidia's DX11 cards come out at the end of the year i will be buying Windows 7.

This poll will be replaced by a new one in a couple of days, so we'll leave the poll as it is.

Already running MSDN verison.

I must say its a lot more resposive than Vista was. Has a few nice touches here and there but ever since Vista I fail to see anything better when it comes to performance.
I mean sure 7 loads apps really freakin fast but isnt this just cheating with "preloading" stuff at startup ?

I'll take a peak again when it's full release, have been playing with it on a few different machines, parts I like, parts I dislike but it's mostly just getting used to the fact it's built around idiots :p

I'll wait and see how stable it is, might make the move instantly, but I generally hold out a few months before making the change 100%.

Running it dual boot on my laptop, and two other machines. Enjoying it so far, this weekend will be putting it on the Gaming box, dual (at this point actually quadruple boot heheh) boot, install a couple of games, see how it responds. Most of my testing so far has been operational, applications, testing for our software, etc.

Dualbooted with 7 RTM for about a month, Last week did a fresh install of 7 Ultimate build 7600 as my Primary and Only OS on my gaming/Main Rig. So far its rock solid stable, Fast, and everything works great.

Already have 7 Ultimate on preorder. Bought a refurbished IBM workstation to brake it on. I've been dual booting the betas and candidate releases for a while. So much better than vista.

Ran 7 RTM for a little over a month and I'm reformatting the drive and installing Vista as we speak. I'll give 7 some time. There are definitely some things that need to get worked out.

If you check my system specs, Win 7 has landed on my laptop and desktop.
So, I'm pretty much going to use it as my main OS now.

WHAT? you used W7 and thought bugs needed ironing out so....you went back to Vista...........
vista is like W7 fatter older brother is sucks compared.

I had vist for about 2 years and it was ok i suppose, but with W7 its been rock solid and not had one real issue at all.

Would you care to elaborate? I allways see this "Vista sucks!!!1111!!" garbage but no one has any examples. What UAC bothers you? I never had an issue. Suprefetch? I love Superfetch.

Third party support has a way to go in 7, yes. There is no argument. Most of the reputable benches that I have seen show Vista to be faster in gaming for the most part. I have had problems with several older game under 7 that run fine on Vista. Gothic1,2, and Messiah are what I can think of off the top of my head. The "59hz bug" sucks. Both Nvidia and ATI have a way to go as far as driver support is concerned. On top of all of that I never found 7 to be noticeably faster than Vista in anything, maybe on an older pc.

I should mention that I had to format anyways and figured that Vista was the better option for now.

Edit: No quirks with this driver install, what a surprise.
