I have just brought home a new Asus XG27ACS monitor because the first one had pretty bad backlight bleed and not too good uniformity. This one seems to be even worse in the latter regard, but I’d like to get some opinions. Do you think this is bad or shall I keep it?

It's basically a lottery with ips monitors you may need to try 8-10 different ones to get one to your liking.

Even then i doubt you'll ever find one that isn't mini led that has above average uniformity.

If it bothers you that's what it really comes down to I can't stand ips whatsoever anymore unless I'm in a very bright room and it's mostly displaying bright content.

^^^This^^^

But how does it look when you are just using it? That is, when playing your games, updating your social media, checking email, creating documents, posting on forums, etc. do you notice it then?

In my opinion, too much emphasis it placed on scores seen in benchmarks, stress tests and other artificial simulations. I've seen it too many times where a user is perfectly happy with their computer, until they run one of these programs.

Sometimes, "ignorance is bliss" is a good thing.

Now for sure, if this is apparent while simply using the computer for your normal tasks, then that's an issue. I note some times, small brightness and contrast adjustments can make a huge difference.

Is this new Asus XG27ACS monitor the same model as the first?

It looks just fine but I'm not sure whether that bottom left corner with the biggest delta won't cause any problems under some specific circumstances.
I'm thinking about playing lottery once more and maybe the third one would be uniform enough. I am uncomfortable with 17% difference in one specific spot even though I can't notice any difference right now.

It's not the same monitor with that horrible colour uniformity I started a thread about about a month ago. That was a Cooler Master GP27Q.

What sort of "problems"? Are you a professional photographer? Graphics designer? Does your income depend on absolute color accuracy?

It looks just fine
If you were seeing a bunch of dead or stuck pixels, or wavy lines, or rainbow effects, during use, then for sure, RMA it.

It's not the same monitor
Then that's not significant, or important UNLESS it is the exact same bottom left corner that is ununiform by the approximately the same amount - then you might be talking about a graphics solution (card) problem.

My worry is, the seed of doubt has already been planted and you will never be happy now. :(

I guess I'll keep this one.

Unless it has backlight bleed like the first one, which I'll know in the evening.

I was going to say 10% is normal for IPS.
17% on a middle gray isn't good, but as others have mentioned - panel lottery.

Mini LEDs or FALD panels suffer from DSE, almost always. I've had 4 total, after ordering 6 - and two were so bad I returned them as faulty and ordered the same model again.
IPS is something I tolerate at work and in laptops - but yeah, for gaming/movies the black levels and awful contrast make them the worst option by a country mile. The upshot is that a mediocre IPS is usually better than a mediocre VA because black smear on many VA's is an even bigger deal-breaker.

To be fair I don't like ips mini led monitors either but I like them better than edge lit ips lol.
