What is my native resolution?

My monitor is the SP2309W from Dell. I checked Dell's website for the native resolution but it didn't say (I think). It just said that it had a maximum resolution of 2048x1152. I checked other sites and they say that the native resolution for monitors are the same as their maximum resolutions. Does that mean that 2048x1152 is my native resolution? Can the native resolution only be one thing or can it be anything in a certain ratio? Also, in a game, I had the resolution set to 1680x1050 (16:10 ratio) and that fit my whole screen. Then I set it to 1920x1080 and then 2048x1152 (16:9 ratio) and those also fit my screen. Later, I tried 1280x800 [Letterbox] and 1680x945 [Letterbox] and those had black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. If those two resolutions were 16:10 and 16:9 respectively, which are the same as the ones that fit the whole screen, wouldn't those resolutions fit the whole screen too?

most of the time they are the same,

normally a popup would show on the monitor also if you were using the incorrect resolution. Normally the recommended is the one that fills the entire screen with no adjustments needed.

Should be 2048 x 1152. I hope you have good gfx card to play at that resolution.

Yes, the native resolution of this monitor is 2048x1152. As for your set resolution, every monitor has a feature to immediately stretch the image to the screen, this imparis image quality as a result. The most important thing when switch resolutions is to have enough performance for your tasks to keep up at the highest resolution to the monitor can. If you want desktop space, go for it. Gaming..well..might need some work...
