For awhile ive noticed that whenever i look at something that has detailed patterns with dark colors the left side of my monitor freaks out and you can almost see the lines scaning across the screen. So today i was bored and decided to change my background to a 1x1 pixel checkerboard just to see what would happen and i get this :wtf: Keep in mind this never happens during games or daily browsing.

thats wierd.... mind posting ur background.. wouldnt mind checking if my monitor does somthing....

I take it that gray & green splodge isn't wot its ment to be showing. That could be the gpu at fault rather the monitor.

Apply that same 1x1 pixel checkerboard background & take screenie, see if its the same as that photo? Although you personly arnt going to be able to tell on that rig if you get what i mean.
So upload the screen shot ere.

+1 to what sir real said,
but im assuming it is the monitor and not the GPU... if it was shown when he pressed print screen he would have posted that instead of taking out a camera to post it.

its not the gpu, when i take screen shots of my desktop that color band does not show up, thats why i had to break out my crappy camera to get a pic on this thread

the only thing i can think of is maybe something is wrong with the cable im using as i can slide the image around in gimp and the band stays in the exact spot is is now, gonna swap it out for a new one and see if that changes anything

connected by DVI/HDMI/DP or VGA?

also, picture shows up just fine on my monitors.

well, that could very well be the problem... try fiddleing with the cable or try a different one... im all out of other ideas

haha, i just tried a different vga cable and the bar flipped to the other side of the screen :banghead:

Check you havent bent or snapped of any pins in the vga lead plug. Plus if your monitor has DVI/HDMI you should realy be usin one of them. Will cut out digital to analog conversion.
