A mix of low and medium with no AA (and probably no motion blur either) to get a steady 25 or so frames.

Crysis isn't as tough to run as it once was, but you still need a pretty beefy PC to turn the eyecandy up to it's fullest. So don't expect the game to look or run at it's best on your PC.

Well I can play Crysis with everything High with no AA and get a playable frame rate of over 20. You also need to factor in whats your native screen resolution. The higher resolution the lower frame rate you get but if you take it off your native resolution then the game usually looks like crap.

Please post your native screen resolution. ;)

That's a good point also.

If you're going to be running the game at a low res, I think your PC should be able to exceed 20 frames with a good amount of eyecandy on.

But as stated, we need to know the res.

Had a 9800GTX+ with GTS250 BIOS, Crysis was more than playable with all settings on High and AAx8 @ 1440x900.

You're probably going to need more than 2GB RAM though. I had stuttering under high sudden action in Crysis before I upgraded from 2 to 3. It might be different with a 1GB video card though.

With that old phenom you might have some problems, but probably not..
I remeber my 8800gt at stock clocks, with a AMD 4200+ socket 940 dual core was playing crysis on high smoothly so you should be fine.
When it comes to have fluid crysis gaming, getting that 4 Ghz quad and 2 Mega nvidia cards which i did and you get 60+ Fps in crysis which is ultra smooth.

When it comes to operating systems, from my experience with crysis, which i have alot of it, My best fps benches and game play were on XP32-bit OS. Windows 7 should drop you 5- FPS in DX9 crysis, and playing crysis DX10 should do another 6-12- Fps drop for you......

Windows vista and 7 are good performers but they take hidden resources and tend to get lower fps in crysis and other games.

Even if you play crysis in 32-bit Dx9 mode itll be slower in 7 then in Windows XP 32-bit mode, also some people say you sometimes get better FPS in vista and 7 using dx9 32-bit mode, but after installing my os 10+ times and the game itself i can tell you thats almost a mith and ive never seen thread proof of it..

Now dx10 in crysis is litteraly piontliss, It cuts and chops Fps like no other my friend, and its all for a FAKE very high setting. Using dx9 will give you a fps boost ive seen up to 15+ fps easily and going and getting a Ultra High config file of the net is easy, which allows you to have very high settings in dx9 then using dx10's very high and yet haveing better performance and looks, thats right, hacked ultra high in dx9 crysis-better performing then very high dx10 crysis.

But to get the best performance for crysis multiplayer and single player, Grab a good e8000 series dual core, Stay on windows XP 32-bit, and use dx9 crysis ultra high configs, and youll get the best of FPS and looks all in gameplay. Your phenom is good but id grab the e8500-8400 in a heart beat.

My 8800 GTS 512(pretty much GTS 250) could could pull in ~30 fps with all high settings no AA at 1680 x 1050 pretty easily. That was on a dual core, so you should be fine at all high.

Yeah you have a pretty decent video card (GTS250) but the CPU is on the weak side and I would recommend 4GB of RAM for gaming in Windows Vista or Seven.

Still I would say a mixture of Medium for most of the lighting and shadows and high for some of the texture and detail settings at moderate resolutions (720p or lower) and no AA.
