Ok so i have 2 8800gt 512s, 1 of which i got for free lol. So i was thinking about trading in the one for an e8400 even trade. What do u all think? Also i can then sell my e6750 and get a new board but dont know what to get if i do sell it. Any ideas on that?

Thanks

I want these quad core penryns now. I'm so tired of waiting.

What's wrong with the e6750 and 2 8800's sli? :toast:

You might not be able to get that much seeing how those procs go for $175 new now. Plus if you want to get the most out of that chip you might want to get a p35 board instead, a few of which will run sli if you want to have that option. Its kind of a tough call, a free gts is pretty nice, and if nvidia gets the sli drivers worked out (which they will need to if they want the gx2 to work) then you have got are set for a while in the video dept.

It kinda depends how much gaming you are gonna do I guess.....

Well im all about the gaming. Will the p5ne sli take a 45nm? And i suppose there isnt anything wrong with my setup i guess. Just throwing out some ideas

I dont think so. Most of the 650i chipsets don't. In fact, most don't really handle 1333fsbs very well. Mine didn't I couldn't get my 6750 to go over 3.0 with my 650i, but w/ the new p35 it easily goes to 3.6 and I am sure it will go higher once I get some better memory. Your asus is probably better though, I had an msi.

A new mb would prob be a good investment, but I would say stick with what you got until the gx2 has a good run. If it succeeds, then you got basically the same thing for far cheaper. If they can't get the drivers right, then you can ditch the sli for a better board, and by that time the 45 quads will be out.:rockout:

I suppose ill stick what i have but i found this on asus site http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=473 says it supports the 45nm

Huh, well hey there you go. Another reason why asus spanks msi in the mb dept. So you don't even need a new board. And really although the 8400 is certainly better than the 6750, I don't think its worth all that trouble. After all its just a die shrink and slightly higher clock speed on the same tech. Just tweak your system and see how good sli treats ya, and then think about getting a quad when the 45 nm come. :toast:

IM working on the ram stuff now trying to get either another 2 gig for my 2 1s or vice versa. Ya i guess ill just wait to see how sli turns out for me

i think u have very high end gaming machine.. nothing u do will make it play games any better.. i think u are a hardware "obsessive" just looking for an excuse to play with your already perfect hardware..

lol maybe:) 1 other thing im running 667 not 800 ram, does that make a diff?

Not with what hat was talking about. Make sure your 1gb sticks are in slots 1 & 2, and they should run dual channel. Consult your mb manual, b/c which is which can vary.:)

They are in the 1 and 2 slot but im also running a 2gig stick which is keepng me from dual. Untill i get the switched out its the setup im stuck with lol

I would love to OC more but i think 400fsb is the top for this board

Yeah just pick up that kit I posted. I want it for my birthday... along with a video card of course

Yea like I was saying thats as far as I ever got w/ that board.

Just curious, what are your 3dmark scores right now w/ the double gts.

At 3.10 and 700/1000 i get 13500

I'm just curious....Can your psu (Coolermaster 500watt) handle all these hardware?

Suprisingly yes runs it great and as far as i know Sli also.
